While I find it silly that in ALL media, games and movies etc, violence is generally shrugged off overall (We can absolutely destroy people in Fallout.. and Super Mutants make blood bags of body parts... etc).. and yet, nudity is like, the worst thing in the world. My mother always amuses me.. shes all for watching gory killfest.. but if some girl comes on screen in a SKIMPY outfit, not nude nor topless just revealing, shes absolutely disgusted by it xD (For the record, I am 29, but any time I ever see the folks and we watch a movie, this always amuses me).

Though I will say, personally, nudity / sex in fallout wouldn't have really added anything for me. Id actually be kinda mehh about it with the current relationship system. Now, if the companion romances were taken a lot further and had a lot more build up to them, and you got more of their backstory / personality, and enough experiences to somewhat become 'attached' to the characters, then some sort of love scene would have been logical, and I would have preferred it, if that all makes sense.

Really, think like, Mass Effect / Dragon Age, but even more well done. I will say I became highly 'attached' and protective of Tali'Zora in Mass Effect, especially over the course of the trilogy, to the point I was doing everything to insure her highest chance for survival (Same with a couple of the other original companions). This is because I got to have a lot of experience with them...

I kinda went from one point to the next there, sorry.. and now I have made myself sad that Fallout has such a lackluster companion relationship system, since I STILL have some form of happy thoughts / attachment to my original mass effect companions, but I could really care less about the Fallout companions. It helps to have a trilogy of games to build up, but it does say a lot about the writing for them.

I think we need some good mods....

Like any other company (or website for that matter), Bethesda is dependent on loaners (or sponsors) who have a say on the possible political or ethical message of a product meant for the many. Like it or not, it is the way it goes today, a slow but straightforward (some say -backward) way that is still in progress.

Have fun

There are many things that are backward, and people will blindly argue that they aren't as well..

Think about this: We live in a world, where a VAST majority of people are perfectly fine watching people die / get mutilated on TV or in games, but will turn around and condemn nudity and sex or be disgusted by it.

Why should something that is actually a positive be considered more wrong than horrible acts..? Its crazy. I mean, I was raised the same way, its taken years for me to open my mind up a bit. And its still ingrained a bit-- I still feel odd about nudity in games, even though, I really shouldn't. Strange, isn't it?

Not because sex is bad. I never seen anyone against sex because it bad.

Sex is seen as private, simulting by many groups. I have such a background, I personally think watching people doing it is like watching someone in the bathroom dropping off, this is private, I shouldn't not be seeing this. Thus it bad to see it.

Then because it real, shooting someone head? It a doll or CGI, blood? It a trick. People stabbed by a sword? I have one of those swords. But a nude person? That is real nipple, butt, junk. Someone I don't know, will this is odd.

Then we get to the part where is public. TV and games. Us do have clubs yes, but no one can go in, it closed and dark from what I know. On TV? Anyone can see it.

And never seen anyone saying people dying is a good thing. It just not real or legit. If it was, then they would rage too, but it not.

My dad is one of those people, he would watch an action movie with tons of dying people and be like "bullshit."

I am not against having sex in games because I am against nudity, I am against sex in games because it is always done really bad and it feels out of place, awkward, and detracts from the art of the game.

There is nothing inherently wrong with the human body nude or otherwise. Boobs, half the people in the world have them... Butts, pretty much everyone in the world has them... Penises, half the people in the world have them... How is something half the people in the world have taboo? And how is it healthy to make people feel ashamed of such things when they aren't made to feel ashamed about hitting someone in the face with a sledgehammer?

Artists have been painting and sculpting the human form for thousands and thousands of years without it being smut.

I will say however, that Bethesda did much better with companions this time around than their former games. Though the thing that really sets Bioware apart from Bethesda in my theory is interaction with other important characters. (so not Piper interviewing generic NPC #34)

Tali is very grounded in the Mass Effect world, she grows as a character as you see her interact with Wrex, and as Garrus teases her about her fear of spiders, and as she gets sassy with Liar depending on which character your are attempting to romance. When you see Tali on your ship getting drunk after Thessia, and then she interacts with Javik, it makes both of those characters really shine.

The final Mass Effect DLC with the Citadel really focused on this particular aspect of character building, and I personally think it was a huge success. As a result, I am working on these kind of components for my own mod.

On the other hand, however, Fallout 4 has characters like Cait who live pretty much in a bubble most of the time. Piper has her sister, and that is pretty much the one time that she shines as a companion. After you talk to her about her sister and then go back to Diamond City and see how she reacts was very good character development. I just think that moments like that are few and far between in Fallout 4 and as a result I get bored of these characters. Cait's line when you switch out companions to Piper and then Piper's reaction was epic and hilarious. Give me more banter and teasing between characters to build a sense of community.

Going all the way back to Fallout 1, the dialogue in Fallout has always seemed to be more about 'telling' me something about a character as opposed to 'showing' me something about a character. So I'm not trying to nitpick Bethesda here, because Obsidian and Black Isle and pretty much every other company not named Bioware does the same thing. I'm just saying I admire Bioware for pushing the envelope.

@JuJooGuppy

I wish I could quote here, but apparently I'm not... too bright. Whateva, it isn't strange that people get infected by 24/7 indoctrination, that's in fact all-too human. However, personally I don't care much about brainwashing in public, let alone a virtual game, simply because we live on a remote ranch, and that's the opposite of a nervous city. If I were a virus I'd always prefer the crazy city-dwellers as my host. Now that's strange, huh?

Have fun! ;)

Personally I'm not against it, but NPCs just don't do anything for me. As I've said before, they have the personality of a blow-up doll. It's hard to form an emotional connection to someone who has, like, a hundred lines total, and a total of four meaningful talks about their past or background or such.

And even then, they're unidimensional. Piper only talks about being a reporter. Magnolia is pretty much a jukebox on legs. Etc. You really can't talk to anyone about anything except the one thing that is the alpha, omega and whole alphabet in between, as far as their personality goes.

Not that even that has any bearing on the "romance". There isn't any real romance, really. You can't woo them or be wooed. You just do X things from their likes list, and they spread the legs. Lockpick X locks, woohoo, Piper is available for sex. WTH of a fetish is that? Steal X things, woohoo, McCready is totally willing to bend over.

And it doesn't help that half of them are people I wouldn't touch with a ten foot vibrator, if I had a choice.

I mean, from the males category, Preston is an annoying whiner. McCready seems to have learned that if he had it rough, then he dislikes any kind of acting like a decent human being... even after his kid only gets to live because you did act like a nice human being. Codsworth... err... no, I don't find him sexy. Danse is a crusader-style fanatic, who's proud that he shot his friend when his friend got infected; plus he just doesn't act his role of superior officer, so he just comes across as uncanny valley. The courser, I think isn't even an option.

And in the other camp, Curie essentially just hit puberty, and clearly isn't informed enough for informed consent. Cait is just annoying, and has the same problem as McCready, namely because she had it hard (and yes, she did), that means you can't be nice to anyone else.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not preventing anyone from getting their jollies with those NPCs. If that's their thing, more power to them. Just, it's not mine.

This, so much this. I see them all as the same companion with minor variations.

This part especially cracks me up. So, Danse is my favorite of the bunch (he's good in combat) and when I use the weapons or armor workbench he gets so excited [Danse loved that]. Makes me laugh every time because it's just so goofy.

It not really that unreal when you think about it. But it really still silly.

I want to woo him in my BOS run, so I just exist PA and use it again right after.

I just picture him in a strip club paying a woman to do that over and over again and I just die.
