marharth
I was was watching the news and saw Sarah Palins bus, and remembered the pledge of allegiance. It is basically forced to be cited in schools, and it extremely nationalist if your not familiar with it. Should it be forced to be said in schools, or even encouraged to be said? csgators
I would have less of a problem with it if it was returned to its original form, meaning without reference to God.

csgators
I just stopped saying it. It was the 80's, not really an option for me. Besides at the time I loved my country and didn't see the way we had betrayed our founding. Still love my country, just lost respect for it. You are practically promising allegiance to a country that you may or may not know about yet. I have no issue with patriotism of course, I just want to make sure people have good reasons to be patriots.
