It's a MOD so whether anyone likes it or not, you only need (or at east should be required to have) a legal copy of Skyrim. Forcing someone to have Morrowind to play a mod for SKYRIM, which was build from the ground up, is utterly ridiculous and stupid. For one, it would totally screw over people who had then since got rid of morrowind or had gotten morrowind on console. And two, it would screw over those who like fresh mods for their skyrim. Three, it would bar a lot of potential fans who never played morrowind from getting hooked on the 'remake' and going to go get the original game at all.

Look guys, get Morrowind. TESRenewal does not own the rights to anything they do and so the only way they are safe from ligation is by having these requirements. Do these talented people a favor and have their backs. I own Morrowind and Skyrim, so im good. You guys should get your copy too, so that the hard work of everyone on the project working on this MOD is not in vain.

People keep using the word "require," but no one is saying how it is a requirement. Will it be a requirement to download on the Nexus? Will it be a requirement to play this Skyrim mod? How can they enforce such a "requirement"?

Everything I've read, especially now that the mod is being built from the ground up with no Morrowind resources, makes it seem like this is just the *honor system*. I WILL buy Morrowind on Steam when and if the time ever comes for this mod, but this mod is the ONLY reason I will be buying it.

But again, it's not really a "requirement" if it is the same level of security that porn sites use.

"You must be 18 years of age to enter this site."
"OK," says the 15-year-old.

I'm just trying to be real here. Sure, there are a lot of people that will respect the mod authors' and Nexus mods' wishes and purchase Morrowind for purely ethical reasons. But everyone in this comment thread knows that there are a lot of people who will not. Edited by nightscrawl

What they may do is during the installation, whomever is coding that, could do a check to see if the originals are installed on ones system before continuing.

It may not be a simple case of installing through a mod manager, could be a customized install script/executive. Edited by T-Mush-S

And those are the same people that will be whining about how unfair it is when their game doesn't just work.

It isn't like this mod is going to be out tomorrow. It may take over a year before we see anything. And in a year a lot of things can change. Who knows, maybe Beth will put Morrowind into the free to download category along with several other older TES titles. So insisting that you absolutely must know right now is kind of useless, no one knows what the status of this will be by the time it is actually ready to be released.

The Elder Scrolls Anthology can be had for a very reasonable price these days if one does a little searching. There is no reason a true TES fan should balk at the incredible deal that it is. (Every TES game from Arena through Skyrim.)
