3WINTERS
Either I'm delusional or there really was news at some point that the PC version will have exclusive HD textures. can anyone confirm if that is really happening? If that really is going to be the case, I pose a question, would you like Skyrim to have the highest quality textures implemented straight off the bat or like a separate included pack on the disc that you can install at your whim? I liked on the Drakensang game for pc, the graphics were pretty good at standard but one was able to choose if they wished to install higher grade textures. But don't expect too much more than what you get in terms of F3 resolutions, they will still aim to fit it all on a single DVD.
3WINTERS
I wonder how long it'll take for sony's new disc tech to come into use, I heard a while back that they successfully had made a cd type that can hold a terabyte of data
LHammonds
Simple solution...ship the games on a 2TB external drive! http://staticus.talash.com/product_images/r/802/Western_Digital_2TB_External_Hard_Disk_2_TB_Portable__61520_zoom.jpg LOL. Sorry, I couldn't resist.
runforitkyle
A 500 gb internal hard drive only costs around 30$ these days.......
3WINTERS
Australia sucks in retail , everything is more expensive here than the states, a 500GB HDD at its cheapest would be $60 , many people don't like paying much more $50 for a new game yet new games here are on average $100 and up to $150 for special editions with all its added gear... I really need to get into online shopping lol! financial experts are even saying, we're spending at least an additional 100% on the RRP and sometimes as high as 300%. Our "bargain sales" pretty much just drops the price to the RRP (if we're lucky). Anyway whinging aside I'll still be willing to pay exorbitant prices for Skyrim. Vagrant0
But don't expect too much more than what you get in terms of F3 resolutions, they will still aim to fit it all on a single DVD.As with Oblivion and FO, their storage issues will likely be more of a limitation on how much voiced dialogue they can include in the game. This is essentially what led to the whole "Everyone sounds the same" problem of Oblivion since they clearly ran out of space and had to hack away at dialogues to make it fit. With the 300+ hours of gameplay their touting, this has me most concerned than anything. As for graphics... I think that having HD textures as an optional PC download is a good idea and both caters to the advantage of their PC player base (an ignored minority), as well as acts as an incentive to get a valid copy of the game (since the texture pack would likely be 2-3 gb in size and require steam or some other service to check the keys. And it means more space on the disk for other stuff... What would REALLY annoy and piss me off however if this was some sort of DLC or added "pay extra" thing (ala horse armor). Sure, it's something that costs them for the extra work, and data hosting... But that just screams of attempts to milk customers for more money. They didn't do this with Fallout, so I really doubt they would it in Skyrim.I am fine with DLC ala Broken Steel, or Point lookout. And a expansion would be nice. In terms of how much GB it will have. I don't care, as long as it stays in the 10's (10 - 20).I usually don't really care how much GB a game has, more GB means more content and that's a good thing.
