CTD after short play time

Greetings Gentles,

 

Looking for any comments or words of wisdom. I'm working off of a relatively old skyrim install so I'm afraid I may need to nuke from orbit and restore vanilla skyrim and kind of start over with installing mods but before I do that I want to see if anyone sees any obvious red flags in my mod list/papyrus log.

That's the end piece where the game actually crashes. This firewood thing is new but I whenever I was crashing before I was geting the bloodFX message.

Is there any pattern to where you CTD? Like, only around cities, or after a specific time?

 

I don't know anything about the firewood message.

 

I had a lot of trouble with immersive armors in the past. I would CTD every 10 to 30 minutes. I played for a while like that, just saving often and figuring it was normal (I'd always heard Skyrim was a buggy, crashy game). Then, I removed immersive armor for my latest playthrough, and I haven't crashed once in almost 40 hours with this character. Try playing a game without it, and see if you still have problems.

Very interesting about immersive armors. That would be a damn shame as I like a lot of them. Never even occurred to me. Perhaps I will try without that and just download a couple of the armors I like separately.

 

I have subsequently had some problems -- I've really gotten down into the weeds. First of all, I made sure all my old mods got updated. Then I did a clean reinstall of Skyrim (the "nuke from orbit") and tried to reinstall mods in an intelligent manner. I also trimmed my mod list down a lot. There's definitely quite a few on the post above that do overlapping things, so I got rid of a lot of the redundancies. I'm down to 217 mods, which is at least approaching reasonable, 184 active plugins. So it's a little frustrating, because at this point I feel pretty good about my mod list and most of the mods are ones I've used before without issue.

 

For laughs I'll post my current mod list in case anyone else wants to take a look. I unchecked my skeleton XPMSE and that seemed to make my game a little more stable.

 

The crash behavior, despite paring down my mods and all that has remained pretty similar; no specific location, indoor, outdoor, etc. I trimmed enough crap off that it lasts a little longer now but we are talking a CTD after about 1-3 minutes of gameplay.

(And yes, since I decided to get all hardcore with my animation and skeleton stuff, I'm trying to do it right, and I've been running the FNIS.exe file all the time. That also reports no errors or warnings.)

Try Wrye Bash to combine/eliminate esp files which share the same attributes/overlap one-another...

 

I'm experiencing random CDT as well, whatever I do or use, both vanilla and seriously modded (240 mods, 184 active plug-ins). Those CTD started since I upgraded the game to its latest version, by the way...

 

My next step is weed through what's running in the background on my PC and could influence how games behave/react, as I've got the same problem with FallOut 4 (but only with loads of mods installed). Bethesda games are not exactly known for their stability/smooth running, but, in my case I find it odd. I might also have another go at Sid Meier's Civ5 to see what a non-Bethesda game does...
