Calzien
Disclaimer: Take this with a grain of salt, I can't personally confirm this but I'm posting it just to make people aware. To moderators: I'm not sure if this is details that people weren't supposed to know yet but it's been publicly leaked. I'm not in the beta so this isn't breaking an NDA or anything on my part by sharing it. http://n4g.com/news/1896320/fallout-4-mods-will-apparently-disable-achievements So apparently according to a couple different sites I've visited info was leaked that mods will disable achievements in the next actual update. Personally I don't care about achievements but it kind of leaves me miffed and this decision. Keep in mind this means ALL mods from the article. Mods COULD be considered cheating depending on the mod but it also means mods that fix bugs (I'm looking at you "In Sheep's Clothing" hostility bug...) will count against this. In short, saves with mods loaded up will be put into a new "Modded" category when saving. This is likely why the new load mechanic for plugin puts an asterisk at the beginning. Mods will be disabled by default but if the user enables them again, no achievements. Modded saves cannot be reverted to normal after but loading a save prior without any mods will still allow achievements thereafter. So what do you think, dumb decision or are you fine with this? Assuming it's all true and not a wild rumor. Something like this was said with I think previous Bethesda games (Using the console in Skyrim on PC for example.) yet never proved true. Ethreon
What's it matter if you can get achievements via console anyway.
Calzien
What's it matter if you can get achievements via console anyway. That's something I thought about, people could console command their achievements anyway on PC. However that leaves out PS4 and 360 players. It also prevents players who just use a mod like the unofficial patch from earning them legitimately. That mod is designed to fix bugs left in the vanilla game, not make it easier or give the player an advantage.
mcguffin
It's not a leak, it's what you can read when you go in the mod section of the game in the beta1.5. But it's actually quite inconsistent, because only mods with esp/esm count as modded. If you use UI/swf modification or direct access to console command (without opening the console), that allows for example to save anytime in survival: it's not considered as "modded". JimboUK
That makes mods look like cheats, those who don't better already refer to them as such and this doesn't help educate people. You couldn't console command achievements in NV, just opening the console disables them. :-( I have well over 2000 hours in and only about 40% of the achievements because I take a lot of shots and use the console to remove the HUD. TheOriginalEvilD
Eh, I couldn't care less about achievements. Half of them you get just by finishing a quest or finding a location or something stupid like that. They're not exactly hard earned achievements anyway. Once I get to the point where I'm modding the crap out of a game, I'm already done with the story and have usually played through all of it anyway. I doubt this will matter to many people. See if the can clear it out  That sounds useful, I think I'd still get caught out because I also do these comic strips and setting up scenes requires values to be entered, setpos, setangle, rotate ect, I need to get those values as well as select the object/character in the console, I don't care much for achievements anyway. Mavkiel
General argument is that most of us don't care one way or the other if achievements are blocked, its the mindset of why they did it that annoys people. It brings to mind the phrase of the straw that broke the camels back. Take away the console, take away saving when you want, make modding more difficult until players figure out a workaround. It'd be hard to come up with a better plan to alienate their pc customers.
