SSL Testing on Nexus Mods

Recommended Posts

Hi folks,

Just a quick heads up that we're currently testing out the implementation of SSL security across the Nexus site (not the forums, yet).

The switch has been flicked and you should be seeing a nice padlock in your URL bar while browsing the site. Some pages aren't showing a green padlock yet due to links to the non-SSL side of the forums.

While initial testing has been positive, we'd appreciate it if you could let us know if you notice any errors, issues or anomalies browsing the site today as we cannot extensively test every single last nook and cranny of these sites as effectively as a few hundred thousand of you folks today!

Thanks for your time.

How do you mean? What happens when you go to the forums?

In the mean-time, remove the "s" from the "https" in the URL and the forums will work for you.

I get a message saying "Server not found." I click on the tab on the top of the page as I always do.
Edit: I can access if I go via my profile. Edited by Bernt

I don't know if it's related, but I'm getting the occasional red error box when trying to download, and an "E" when trying to access the manual download tab (and nothing else). (I have a feeling someone's going to tell me that if I had read the FAQ for ____ I would know that means the modder is updating the files or something, so please feel free to school me if that's the case :P )

Thanks for the hard work!

I can confirm that the forums are inaccessible. I get the same thing: brief loading.. then the screen flickers and I get the default "Server not found" page. I use Firefox.

Most AJAX'y things (Posts, Articles, Images, etc. on mod pages) are just showing an E for me. Pages that do a full browser page re-load are fine.

Specifically, the error when I watch it in Chrome is:

XMLHttpRequest cannot load https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/ajax/comments/?thread_id=3977975&mod_id=11664&randomcode=35823&gid=1151. No 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin' header is present on the requested resource. Origin 'http://www.nexusmods.com' is therefore not allowed access.

EDIT II: I just figured it out, links I was coming from were still HTTP and there was no HTTPS re-direct, so any subsequent requests to HTTPS pages were failing. Traffic coming in from search engines / older links without HTTP will run into this issue of course without an https swap but I assume you'll do that once you finalize everything.

Cheers

I get a popup when I go to a specific mod's main page. it just says "An error has occurred" with an empty red box. I have to reload the page to view the description/images etc tabs and the 'download' tab returns the same error or simply displays an 'E' where there would otherwise be text/mirror links. 'Download Manually' button returns the red error box. This is in the XCOM:EU/EW subset.
