Combat like Dark Messiah

I understand what he means. Life and death combat isn't usually that fluid. It's more brutal, direct attacks. If combat becomes too graceful and slow, it takes on more the form of a duel or fencing match, rather then "if I don't fight my ass off, I AM going to die".

Yeah, sometimes the moves look too good if you know what I mean. I prefer hard and painful attacks, like making one overhead blow with a two handed axe, killing a person, rather than a fluid fancy flourish, aka finishing move.

I don't know about this. Generally skilled fighters/martial artists are fluid and methodical- there is no panic in their attacks- although it is a dynamic fight where anything can happen the most skilled will work around the attacks of the enemy rather than rushing panic blows to the opponent. With melee combat in a games you either have the choice of fluid combat making the player/or character look skilled (Assassins Creed) or leave the player with a more manic or panicked combat such as M&B with a greater reward for winning.

Perhaps the new 'execution' kills in Skyrim will find a middle ground so players can be both skilled and rewarded at the same time? We will see.

The combat the little they show in skyrim looks far better then DM. DM was a fun game but boy ubi sure slaughtered might and magic name when they released that one vs the good old 3DO. I recall playing might and magic 1 2 and 3 on a mac back in the day I spent so many hours on those games. If that is ture bethesda bought the name might and magic from ubi be interesting to see what that do to it

I'm okay with the combat in skyrim. Although i do prefer fast paced swordfights.
