Mounted Minigun

I did (since I'm taking about it), however, get this buildable turret set up.

...though it does have some obvious issues itself (and one still climbs up *through* the APC, and it's immobile), and it's immobile (I'm not cool enough to do that stuff, heh).

...but I'm not shy/embarrassed about putting half done stuff in my mod, heh, so...she'll be in there somewhere.

Anywho, good luck to whoever takes this on in the future.

P.S. The jump off animations look surprisingly good...pretty well fits just right on both ways I did (flat turret just on the ground and with the APC skin).

Also, when you jump out of this thing, the minigun goes bye bye. Actually not the lamest problem, seems reasonable/explainable either way (stays there or doesn't).

This mod has to be made real! Mounted Minigun turrets, all you need is to assign a settler to it and they'd stand there and wait for enemies to get close!

I really, really tried. Just could not get the turrets to not break apart after the settler gets in. The spindle ( ? Where the bullets go) would stay in place, but the triggers would break off to the right and the barrel to the left. Ammo problems, too. And a same problem I noted below about switching weapons.

I'm sure it's doable by someone more competent, so I say very good luck to them. I know some tricks, but not enough for this, apparently.

The whole thing is script based, by the way.

I will say there is a reason the Minigun_Mounted (something like that) was left out of the main game. It's really broken, even for the player. Took awhile just to get it useable by the player at all, and then there were issues with entering it the 2nd, 4th, 6th, etc time caused you to mount your regular gun that had drawn at the time.

Ended up using cut up Vertibirds and their scripts for what I needed (which is not the same), and I could not even get settlers to acknowledge those at all, not even a little bit.

Anywho, I don't know. Llike I say, someone savvier than myself may get it settled, and again, good luck to them. =)

Just kind of spitting ideas here, after seeing your response on the APC and Tank turrets mod. What if you, or someone else, made a standard turret with the kneeling welding animation attached to it, then require a settler to be assigned and sitting in it rather than power.

Then it will look at least somewhat like the settler is kneeling behind the gun and holding a handle. Maybe there's even a way to limit the rotation of the turret to 90 degrees or so.

Not perfect, not even sure it would work, but if it does it may be easier than fixing up the minigun for npcs to use.

That's the turret I'm referring to, it's actually direct from the game, just wasn't used. You'd refer to as "cut content" probably (I actually used the tripod from the unused vanilla one on one of my turrets in this mod: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/22652/? ).

I've got a few other ideas I'm thinking about, and I read through Jkruse's idea (which is interesting as a possible workaround, for sure).

So, we'll see how we'll all that goes. =)

You sure its not used? from my understanding that's used for the vertibird while your riding on it.

The only thing I'd suggest to a stationary Mini-gun like the one in the video (and in Vertibirds) is it should have unlimited ammo (like the Vertibird) to off set the fact that it is only usable for settlement defense (similar to other Turrents).
