sagittarius22
Hi. So, I would like to use sound files from SWAT 4. SWAT 4 was created by SIERRA, but this company does not exist anymore. I looked everywhere but could not find any informations to know if assets could be used; I presume that it's not legal but I still ask it. Generic question: is it tolerated to use assets from games whose the makers don't "exist" anymore? Sorry, again a question about legal stuff, I know it's going to be a bit redundant but hey :psyduck: Edited July 27, 2011 by sagittarius22
Dark0ne
When most companies go out of business their licenses and assets generally get sold or passed on to other companies, and ergo you're probably not allowed to use their assets.
sagittarius22
 NoooOOo, what a shame, seriously, I cannot find any good sound files for my mod... I guess I'll have to find some voice actors then...
rausheim
What I would recommend, is if you research who bought the rights of SIERRA. If no one bought them, technically no-one owns the rights. Now I don't know why or how they went out of business, but the law regarding business is that if no one has claimed the rights after a business went out of action, it is up for grabs, more or less.
