Dark0ne
The beta hasn't started yet and I haven't contacted anybody. We're just finalising some things and preparing for it. I'll be in touch ;) Will this manager store personal data beside mod preferences, etc? Nope. Anything it does record will be to do with the mods you download for tracking purposes. We won't be recording personal details, computer details, your browsing history, your social security number or any crap like that. We're not going to be profiling you and sending your data to 3rd parties for fat profits. It's a mod client. The only way it will generate funds is if people pay for Premium Membership for the added features. No ads, no data collecting. Nothing untoward. The3rdType
Interested in seeing what you get for free versus Premium. I'd be concerned if the "standard" the current version of FOMM set wasn't the free standard.
Quetzlsacatanango
He is talking about free vs premium membership, not mod manager (I think). The software is GPL so there wouldn't be much point in having different versions. You could just look at the source for the premium version and put it in your free version and rerelease. The current FOMM is GPL also for that matter. Dark0ne
Yes and no, the software is going to be open source under the GPL license, however the API, the parts that actually interact with the site, are not open source (and for obvious security/protection reasons). Some parts of the API are open only to Premium Members and no amount of recoding on the client end will open those features to non-Premium Members. As far as premium versus non-Premium, Premium Members will be able to: Download at max speedMulti-thread their downloads so if they can't download at full speed, they should be able to once multi-threadedOne-click update of mods from the client itselfEnable "mod memory" that will remember the mods you have installed so if your hard-drive ever crashes, or you reinstall windows, or come back to a game after years of being away, your favourite mods are all remembered and stored ready for you to download and install again Normal members will be able to do everything except those things. So they can still download using the client (and pause/resume their downloads), install mods and they'll be informed when their mods are out of date. Just Premium Members get a few extra perks. Gopher
Can we have some feature that lets us publish our mod list to our profile or PM to a mod author? Just thinking that it is often useful to know what someones load order is when helping them out, but actually a lot of mods dont have ESPs or ESMs. Just a thought. edit: obviously i mean a voluntary posting. Not suggesting people be forced to publish their mod choices :)

Not suggesting people be forced to publish their mod choices :) I second this suggestion, it would be nice to have this option.Although it is easy to get your mod list in notepad form, this could be useful to quickly diagnose peoples problems. That said, yes not all mods have ESP's or ESM's but most of the time the problem ISN'T because of replacers so it would still be handy to have :)
