Gracinfields
With BF3, Crysis 2 getting the Directx 11 patch, and Skyrim coming up I find myself in need of a Directx 11 card, after careful consideration I concluded that to best suite my needs, budget, and current monitor the Geforce 580 would be the best to go with. However, the company I use to go with for cards is no longer producing cards (BFG) so I find myself trying to find a new manufacture. So I looked on new egg and the following companies where shown that fit the 580 I was going for:Zotac, Gigabyte, EVGA, MSI. The issue is I never heared of Zotac and Gigabyte before and have heared bad things with EVGA, and MSI so was looking fo a little help from the people of Nexus to help me find who to go with for a new card. Now I honestly dunno if there are other brands out there that make the 580 in the stats I was looking for only what was listed on Newegg so if you have other then those please name them and link to the card if possible. Note I am looking for a 580 with 3 Gigs of ram not the 1 or 1.5 gig variant.
Erik005
Why do you only want the 3GB version? You only need it for resolutions above full HD 1080*1920. These are your choices for 3GB cards. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125399 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127589 Edited September 6, 2011 by Erik005
CommanderCrazy
What bad things have you heard about EVGA? I only buy their cards, and have never had a problem. Well, only once, but it was still in the warranty and they sent a new one out quick smart.
Vindekarr
I have an EVGA '580... Absolutely love it, very quiet, runs cool, lots of power. No reliability issues and I was able to self fit with no tools or traininhg, go for it.
Erik005
As there are no 3gb evga cards available so I advised the ones I did, But evga is very good. This is the evga card I would suggest.http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130658 Edited September 6, 2011 by Erik005
Gracinfields
Well was looking at 1080p with 90 FOV for BF3 and its always good to have a little head room should things go higher. Also I was looking at monitors with 3d capilbity as well.
Ghogiel
a 580 with 1GB of ram sounds kinda... yeah. Even some people have found the difference between 1GB to 2GB vram quite a benefit with games like modded crysis. I expect in the near future 1GB would be the first thing to hold a 580 down. Even without multi monitor or 3d. With the 3GB you can't really be making a mistake, but with lower vram you could very be, it's kinda a no brainer. Edited September 7, 2011 by Ghogiel
