Dear Morrowind modding community,

Hello, I have started my new project which will make npcs use the choice system, making the dialouge more like other rpgs, like Fallout 1 and 2: http://i.imgur.com/Fqf8Ffz.jpg

Now that that's said, there is something I would like to talk about, involving this year's Modathon contest which just ended. To say the least, I am slightly disturbed by the lack of feedback on some mods that you can tell had a lot of work put into them this past month. I feel that the existence of the contest has caused the average mod user to dismiss every mod this month under the thought that every mod released this month was just a jab at some grand prize, and that there was no work put into them. I want to express that this is not the case at all.

Personal example: I just released my first mod which I've been working on since February, (it wasn't even intended for Modathon at first it just happened), The Mysterious Hunter, at 5 am eastern time on the 29th/30th and since then it has gotten 18 total downloads and 2 endorsements. But no comments despite asking for feedback TWICE in the description. "But you have two endorsements" Yes, I do, but those 2 endorsements don't tell me squat. I don't know if you really like it and if it is going to remain in your load order until the end of time or if there's a game breaking bug that I need to fix because I screwed something up at 3 in the morning or if you have a simple suggestion like "Hey I like your mod but here's how it could've done better: la la la example example". To put it bluntly, I don't know if I'm a good modder or not, and how I could improve in my future mods.

That's the entire point of the comment section, is to post feedback and give criticism of ANY AND ALL KINDS. I don't mind if you say my mod sucks, (as long as it's constructive) because it is feedback!

And to show that I'm not just tooting my own horn, there are others who released their very first mods that look like really good mods and they have little to none feedback!

As of 2:00 eastern time 6/2/2016 these first time modders in the month of May have little to none feedback on their mods:

Cave of Wonders by Lady Phoenix Fire Rose: http://www.nexusmods...nd/mods/44344/?

I understand if you are busy, I have two school projects left (even though there there's only 3 weeks of school left) before I can try these mods myself, but I will be going through these mods and trying them over the summer so I can give them my feedback and I ask you to as well.

Not calling anyone witches but as a "community" this is disturbing.

Since this has been addressed in Bethsoft forum post:

"I know Morrowind is very sparse, but I think it is something we as a "community" can improve on. Yes I made a release thread, which got no feedback other than my email being snipped out. Oops on my part. And I'm not really uncomfortable with it being two days with no feedback, I'm expecting some more downloads, endorsements, feedback over time. Like you said, it takes months to get a simple comment and that is exactly the issue I wanted to address.

This post is an editied version of what I posted along with a picture on the Nexus: http://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/images/2670/? and I'm going to make a something on the forum side soon, (THIS IS WHAT YOU'RE READING RIGHT NOW NEXUS FORUM USERS) I know it's kinda weird to post this on Bethsoft forums but I felt like I should've as well.

It's not just my mod that I care about, you can use those links I provided to get to other budding new modders who posted in the first week of May and didn't get any feedback. The reason why I posted this was because yea, people download your mods but I think it's a bit weird to not take 5 secs to say what your basic experience was like in a simple comment ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU ENDORSE IT BUT YOU DON'T SAY WHY YOU ENDORSE IT.

And you're fine, I myself use brutal honesty all the time, and I'm glad you said what you said so I could address it."

Thanks for reading and be safe,

Enclavekiller

I actually feel like this for every mod on the Nexus. Not only feedback, but if you compare unique downloads to endorsements, the ratio is always so off it's just awful :/ Why do most people not bother to endorse at all? It takes like what, 10 seconds to open 'Download history' and press the thumbs up? (or thumbs down, if you didn't like the file)

I totally agree: mods that took a lot of work don't get enough praise anymore

but Guys more mods need custom models instead of just vanilla resources messed with inside the construction set

because alot of mods on the download page are vary easy to make and flush out the ones that took alot of work to make.

but no one knows the secret of exporting into the .nif file format anymore.

Does nobody know how to do it, or do you just not know how? I've seen in several threads where you've been given links to the required information.

I also dislike this notion that a mod needs custom assets. Some do, sure, but there are plenty of great mods out there that are made just in the CS. There are also just as many bad models that have been made for this game.
