zanity
Fallout 3 for the current gen consoles (and PC) was 'rumoured' a time back, and now seems to be on the verge of being announced by Bethesda. Clearly, since FO4 cynically uses the SAME asset designs as Fallout 3, and the same gameplay mechanisms, an updated version of Fallout 3 will be just a TOTAL CONVERSION mod for FO4 (pretty much how NV was a TC mod for FO3). Anyone looking forward to the 'modernised' FO3? If it re-uses art from FO4 as ruthlessly as I suppose, do people think it will feel too 'familiar'? And will Beth add new story and missions- or is the original base game good enough for a release we'd obviously treat more as another (very large) DLC for FO4 (tho I'm not suggesting it'l be sold this way- it is bound to be stand-alone)? I hope they'll revoice some of the characters that all shared the SAME voice-actor in the original. Otherwise, I think a pretty much one-for-one port to the new engine/assets could still make for a compelling experience.
iXenite
I highly doubt Fallout 3 will be remade. While the Creation Engine is a heavily modified version of Gamebryo, Fallout 3 and Fallout 4 do not appear to share actual assets. The art style for many things have remained the same, but that is to be expected in a sequel. Fallout: New Vegas on the other hand used virtually the same engine as Fallout 3 (Gamebryo) and as such reused a large quantity of the assets BGS made for Fallout 3. In order for Fallout 3 to be remade in Fallout 4's engine would be a massive undertaking, and would literally be remaking the entire game all over again. It wouldn't be as simple as it was from 3 to New Vegas (which had its own fair share of original assets mingled with the reused ones). If anything will be ported over it will be Skyrim. They both use the Creation Engine, and Todd Howard has confirmed they did a rough port Skyrim during the development of Fallout 4 to become more familiar with the current gen consoles architecture. tartarsauce2
sorry, why do people insist that FO4 uses FO3 assets?I thought it used Rage assetsam I missing something here?is this one of those "physics engine is rage, organization of keywords and frameworks within the API is FO3's still" things?also, doomguy bobblehead around 4:20, also the game is made by IDin other words, I'm PRETTY sure Rage has something to do with FO4's enginehttps://youtu.be/IBhffffQ-Sg?t=3m14s Edited June 8, 2016 by tartarsauce2
