Rennn
Are they merely a texture that could be edited? Or are they part of the mesh?I shall be extremely annoyed if they are a physical part of the mesh.
micalov
Yes they are part of the mesh like usual, male is the Nappy (diaper for the Americans) and the female is normal Bra and pants mesh although it does not seem as chunky as Oblivion. You can see them in all the different videos from the playthroughs etc. They are not going to do smooth meshes because how ever bad the nappy style looks smooth with just a texture would look worst and since your probably talking about texture editing to make them nude, Bethesda defo is not going to help in that matter especially after the storm the disabled topless texture for females in Oblivion caused. Wait for mods to make new bodies, im sure they will come soon enough, or even ports of Oblivion bodies if its possible, already heard of plans for RM to be converted to Skyrim? Although could just be rumors.
scot
There will be better body models for sure, and Im counting to see roberts body for skyrim x) Though I wonder if it´s easy for people who know how to do it since now we can also make the character´s body slim or muscular. KMA
I will all depend on how they are deforming the meshes dynamically. You probably just have to alter the base mesh, and let the deformations sort themselves out. I doubt it will take that long, as this is the same old engine, with a few new accessories (let's hope they are more than just fuzzy dice). If they made it tough, you may have to export a topology of the skin of the character to a database which then determines where the deformations start, but that would be a lot of extra work for them (and us). KMA
They just added in a few new modules (AI) and called the whole engine new. If that were true then it would mean the engine can actually handle more than 400K polys in their render area (which it apparently cannot). All modern game engines passed mark that about 5 years ago, and are up to ~650K now (Frostbite 2 etc.). That is why Rage, BF3, COD3, B:AC all look so good compared to the HD videos of Skyrim. Sure a few elements of the engine are new, but you cannot slap a new muffler and sound system on your car, and call it new. It looks like Fallout 3/NV, acts like it, and will probably induce flashbacks (I had one when I saw the bear, the 'detected' pop-up while sneaking, and the lock pick mini-game). Upgraded is not that impressive especially when the poly count is so low, yet Todd is marketing it as a completely re-written graphics engine that just happens to look like the old one? Riggght... Do not get me wrong, I am sure I will like the game. I just hate all the false advertising (like Rage) where they act like Peter Molyneux and say anything they think will sell more copies regardless of how nonsensical their claims are. With Todd advertising the shadows which turned out to be terrible (in the HD video at least), you have to wonder what other 'improvements' are just going to have to be shut off by everyone. I think the thing most are getting confused with is that Todd is claiming (and I believe this one) that they re-wrote parts of the Gamebryo engine. What they are doing is trying to convince you that they changed it significantly, but instead they most likely just cleaned it up. That removes bugs so the game works, but does not improve the graphics significantly. Otherwise there would be significant graphical differences between F3/NV and the HD Skyrim vids, and that is not the case. Heck, Todd even talked about Havok as if it were a new improvement, yet they have been using it since Oblivion. So I would bet that at least 80% of the engine code is the same, just cleaned up. The new AI and quest generation will be the real improvements, but only account for a small part of the engine as a whole. Hopefully that will mean that we get to use the same tools (I love NifSkope!).
Rennn
You realize that almost all the hd gameplay vids are from the 360 version, don't you?
justwannaddl
Its a shame there is no nude mesh included. It would have been interesting to see if anyone would try to throw a hissy fit over it now that Skyrim is rated for adults. Considering how some silly places have laws that allow them to ban the sale of such games though, I can't blame them for not having even a crappy unused mesh in the subdirectories. On a side note, I hope someone will be able to set up a real heel system for Skyrim. Not to detract from modders efforts but after seeing mods with real heels, older high heel mods always looked weird because of cutoff feet and/or calves. All modern game engines passed mark that about 5 years ago, and are up to ~650K now (Frostbite 2 etc.). sauce? Pretty sure their Ob one can break over 500k actually rendered, at least modded Ob can lol. Just think of any of those outfits that are 130k tris... each, I do not exaggerate either. 4 of those in scene, plus the 500k of interior... yeah If, and I don't believe this for a second, that there is a 400k cap on tris rendering at any one time, in scene or just in the view frustum, I will eat my hat. It's so low that 10 characters will easily be over 1/4 of that, more like 1/3 or more.
