This sounds great to me, and potentially opens up a lot of modding possibilities. I know it's the default mode in these forums to b&@*$ and moan at everything Bethesda says or does, but I liked Far Harbor and I think this will be a lot of fun.

I would like if, in whatever way we gain control of the raiders of Nuka-Cola World, we could reapply them for our main factions in the core game. A Minutemen General might be able to sort out the riff-raff and make a force of Minutemen out of these Raiders (Definitely a 10 Charisma Check there). A Brotherhood player might able to, I don't know, make them an auxiliary army the BOS Leadership will occasionally admit exists? The Institute and Railroad probably wouldn't have much use for these people so they would just defer to the Minutemen in this matter.

Wait for it...

How can I make a minuteMAN out of you?!?

Which fits in SO well with the fact that the player is KING of the MinuteMen, KING of the institute, King of the Railroad (does this happen- must admit I haven't pushed the game's quests far enough to find out) and King of the BOS (oh, that last one was INTENDED by Beth, but removed from the game at the last minute). Role-playing design SO BAD, no one even imagined it was possible.

And NO, OP, no-one complains about the micro-fact that Beth is adding a bit more story content- any new stuff is better than nothing. What people hate is the meta fact that Beth has so mishandled the content of FO4, and has been so proud to do so.

It is also a rotten cheek to make people pay for something that was originally intended from day one- namely that settlements could be owned by different factions. A lot of the DLC is simply cut-content resold to gamers after the fact.

Role playing gamers would have adored being able to push a Fallout 4 'career' as a 'raider' or 'mechanist', but it is a laughable lie to suggest the DLCs now allow this to happen. You have more character choice as the single character of Geralt in W3 than you do as the supposed 'play as you wish' player chosen character in FO4- and no sane person can comprehend how this turn of events came about.

Modders already have mods allowing you to play as the form of any NPC in FO4, and the game engine allows easy spawning of on-side faction side-kicks who have an agression flag set against the faction you wish to attack- but the mechanisms are clunky and broken as Bethesda's own use of the same mechanisms show in the vanilla game.

It is telling that once before, Bethesda BADLY fumbled the ball on 'faction wars' in Skyrim (where the majority of the intended civil war content was so broken, it was disabled for the release game- and even modders couldn't get the cut content working again). Beth, of course, is still fuming over how a third-party dev did so much BETTER than any Beth attempt at factions (before or since) in New Vegas.

I'm kinda hoping that we can take over the Institute as the raiders without destroying it.

Yeah, cause the raiders are all about peaceful co-existence...

No but they are hostile occupation

Beth games it not just role playing, it also about doing wtf you want (it like the core thing of them.) so it only normal to see it in a beth game.

FNV factions are not really that good though, they are quite black and white.

We should however note that better story and writing of the other beth games. Like dishonored.

Are you sure you want to be a raider?
