F4SE or Modded...

Ok, a question for some of you more game savvy types.

Are we supposed to be using F4SE plugins trick or have we gone back to the ever so fun Modded lists? I ask only because neither is working for me.

I know F4SE just updated and will prolly be a few days till up to par and working 100% but both, (F4SE & Modded), keep telling me that mods that are in my list aren't. Yes I did check the Load Order List for modded games and it shows all there but still gives me the "missing mods" box.

Maybe it's just me but I don't want to start playing mods game and then have to re-do later on my F4SE game.

Any HELPFUL thoughts greatly appreciated, all others willingly ignored. :)

I don't understand you. You can use mods that require F4SE with mods that use ESPs and most mods that use F4SE use both. Also, F4SE should be working fine if you're using the latest version.

I'm just saying that neither way is working for me. I use the plugin trick, " * " before each plugin and it tells me when i launch the game that i'm missing mods. It also does the same thing when I don't use the trick. To top it off it doesn't matter if I launch through F4SE or with the Steam Launcher. Still gives me the missing mods box on both.

You clearly haven't a CLUE what F4SE does. In fairness, we sometimes forget that many gamers are technically illiterate, yet still desire to use mods.

F4SE deep hacks into the codebase of Fallout to allow types of mods that could never happen with the intended 'vanilla' modding system. This means you have.

1) vanilla mods that the base game is designed to recognise

2) F4SE mods that deep hack into the game code/data to give functionality otherwise impossible

3) External third-party code hacks like ENB that invisibly subvert the functioning of the game.

When Beth forces an update on people silly enough to TRUST automatic updates (clue: ALWAYS disable any auto-update system for ANY program, and take responsibility for examining updates and appying them yourself when you feel it is useful to do so), things usually break. Type 2 break almost always. Type 1 sometimes (or else the mods need updates themselves to return proper functionality). Type 3 pretty much never break.

Sorry, but 'mod management tools' that the unskilled HOPE will do all the work for them almost never work that way. As I said, the BEST strategy is to turn off automatic updates.
