ginnyfizz
Yep, the UI and the map are incredibly bad and for someone who isn't nimble fingered like me, it really CAN be game breaking. Thankyou fprovost, one of the first things I did was to find out how to hotkey and guess what? It's STILL a horrible UI and has a bad attack of consoleitis. The map is one of the worst I have ever seen, very indistinct. Two of the things that I would like to see modded as soon as the modding tools come out. Character generation is absolutely dreadful and dumbed down from OB. At least the modders have already gone to work ironing out the facial wrinklies, and when the CS comes out I just know they will be having at those abysmal elven presets. It is a good looking game (apart from the people)and the weather is better, and what hasn't been mentioned is that horses are much easier to steer than in Oblivion. I fail to see why it was necessary to make a remark like this "Certain people will be pissed off that their SUPER L33T 3 grand machines aren't being tested and feel very silly for spending all that money on a 0.1% graphical improvement." I don't think that's an issue. But the known bugs most certainly are, kind of par for the course for a Beth game though!
Handofbane
What's bad : Nothing mods won't fix. If you want to ''fix the UI'' - For the love of god, take 5 minutes and BIND YOUR DAMN KEYS.That is lovely and all, but rebinding certain keys breaks them in other windows/functions. Want to rebind your E key? Guess what, you can no longer take/steal books after opening them with a keystroke, Rebinding F? No more setting favorites for you! And so on.... soot00
Having long been a fanboy of Oblivion, Morrowind series I hated the UI as well. Now after playing the game for a day or two and getting accustomed to the new inventory and map (I am running on PC) Am loving the new UI now! Things are so easy to sort out now instead of the jumbled mess of previous series.
mabus4444
Obviously you must be playing a different game. I don't see any two holds in Skyrim that look alike! There's a village in a cold marsh that is on wooden stilts, there's a city built into a mountainside, there's a quaint open forest town, and a city that may as well be a fortress (whiterun and solitude, and they even have different architectural styles). That's nothing to say of the natural beauty of Skyrim, as well. Lush forests in the south bordered by snow-capped peaks, a nice fall forest at a high elevation filled with vibrant reds and oranges, a cold bog, a lush steppe in the center, and a marshy hot spring area all create a variety of environments unmatched by Oblivion, which basically had three biomes. You haven't even played the game, have you? Clearly you are not describing Skyrim. Sounds more like the Fallout games (I say this even though I cherish them so, mind you). Well I've put in a good 20 hours or so so far, and i am starting to come around to it somewhat. I don't think i'll ever get accustomed to all the blithering snow everywhere, and there's far too much mountain climbing in this game. I feel like i'm a sherpa in the himalayas here. That said, I made my way to Winterhaven (sigh) and yeah it's a big city (finally). I'm not won over yet, but i'm starting to warm up to it. I don't want to give any spoilers away, but let's just say I was almost assassinated, which made me smile :) The Caverns are absolutely a huge upgrade. I love the many nice touches the game has to offer, lots of new abilities and touchups...... but there's so much snow...... sigh... I miss the greenry of Cyrodill. Gabbemaster
soot00: ...jumbled mess of previous series... I liked that jumbled mess... I take the jumbled mess of Morrowind any day before the lack of feeling this system has.
ricksamik
I'm still getting used to the UI..I can't seem to drop things out of my inventory..when I'm in inventory mode it displays 3 choices E R and F... well none of them work. I can't drop things out of my inventory so I can't run. Grrrr... and the steam thing was just a pain in the butt. I bought the game today. Sometimes when I click on a body to loot it..the activate button doesn't open up the dead characters inventory..it just nudges the characters body a bit... I really think they made this game to appease the console crowd..the compass is HUGE on the top of the screen and the sneak icon is like right in the middle of the screen lol... great graphics I must say. I will keep playing when I figure out how to drop stuff out of my inventory. blahhhhh
QueenOfThieves
Not disappointing at all. The few complaints I have are so tiny (like having one ring slot,) and are far overshadowed by the improvements, IMO.

I miss the greenry of Cyrodill.I'm right with ya on the mountain climbing thing. There's too many of them and it is incredibly difficult to get to a compass marker for a dungeon or feature you want (such as a dragon roost). Sometimes I don't feel like going around and trying to find another way, so I simply noclip through that crap. And while it's not all snow and mountains, there's too much snow for the snow textures to be as sloppy and ugly as they are.
