sedeslav
UI is a shame for this game. It looks like something from B -sf game. and font is just ...stupidly simple.Dwemer technology don't fit in this story ..Too wierd and alien-ish. (they know how to make killer-robots, but still use bow and arows........)
dimebagdarrell
only thing that bugged me was people taking arrows through the forehead and not dying. other than that, the game was ok for me. i never cared for textures, though. i only want gameplay and mods, as mods are the only reason i decided to get this for pc instead of xbox. i'm glad they got the controller to work, as i hate playing with a keyboard - too many buttons! i guess people just have different preferences /shrug
AssyMcGee
Ah good, another place for me to rant and complain. Boy I love doing that. Likes:The landscapeThe varied dungeonsThe various voices for NPCsShield BashingThe freedom on an Elder Scrolls gameGetting lost on my way to a city, finding a random dungeon or encounter and starting a new quest to entertain me for a few hours.A crazy amount of quests. Dislikes:The map. It's cool looking I guess, but I get lost easily because I'm an idiot. I'd really love for a map with roads, or at least the roads to show up on this fancy new map. That way I can tell easily which direction a fork in the road is going to take me. I'm sick of facing, say Riften in the map while looking left on a fork, but having the road take a sharp left and take me to Windhelm.Everyone's said it already but I gotta say it again, the UI.There's no real threat of war in my mind. Sure there's rebels fighting the empire, but all I've seen of it is talk. Unless you count what happens to Whiterun. Even so, I'd like to see random battles between Legionnaires and Stormcloaks and maybe sacked villages. Just something to make me think the war is real and is affecting people.Proudspire Manor. The most expensive house in the game is terrible in my opinion. My housecarl sleeps on a mat on the floor of a store room in the basement, and there's only 1 bedroom. There's a small variety of armor and weapons, and I can't mix and match shirts and pants. Sometimes a man enjoys walking around in a fine expensive shirt, totally pantless. Also I'd like to join the Imperial Cult. Or Temple of the Divines or whatever it's called in this game. Chaosrex
No real cinematics...,that was a bummer for me. When i saw the first story/gameplay trailer i though to myself" finally Cinematics!!" Even if they where made with the game engine i din't care, to me the new game engine and new game was the occasion to put in kick ass Cinematics ala Witcher 2 or DMC,where Beth could have done huge things to drive us into the story. Not a Cinematique at every quest, but maybe on important ones like the Different Guilds, the Main Quest the Deadric artifacts quest and such. Those where really good settings for insane Cinematics, and the only Cinematics we have is the Intro and the part where you Ride Odavhiing...,wich where both a bit clumsy... At teh Death of Alduin i was excpeting a dramatic cinematic...yeah right... Also the fact that the quest, be it the Main or the Guilds related ones are too damn short!!! I mean come on!, 12-15 quest for the Main quest? and like 6 or 7 for the Guilds related quests?... Ok after you completed those you can still have Assasination quest, or missions for the Companions...,but they arn't has flavory as the ones you have to do in the Main quest. I mean the DB quest you get after are plain kill missions, no special conditions or anything, you go to where the NPC is you kill him, you go back...,really?... The thing i enjoys about DB quest is not only the killing is the conditions you have to complete to make the kill! Just like the ones in Oblivion where you had to wait a certain hour to let a minotaur head fall on a guy, or the one where you are in a house with 7 people to kill, but you have to do it without alerting the others and stuff. The enchantments, first the fact that you can't overwritte an allready existing enchant, its really bothersome, but also that you are really limited in what enchants you can use. Where are shield and Absorbshield enchants?, where is the detect life enchant? and other utility enchants?.
Astaril
I loved Oblivion and played my character over the years for... over 700 hours!!! (and yes I got the abomb bug thing and my husband had to fix it lol , on xbox too!) I am playing skyrim on pc now and am loving it so far but I completely agree with much the OP says here, so thought I would add my own list here, as a diehard RPer it is mainly from this angle. DISLIKES - ALL ELVES - they all look the same! You can't really recognise the bosmer as instantly as you could in Oblivion, and I liked the fact they were cuter in Oblivon too. like Maenlorn and Kaelorn in Anvil. A bit hobbit like, I miss this! dark elves and high elves just look ugly and it is hard to see any variation or character in the faces. They all seem to have the same mean, pointy, gaunt looking face. LACK OF LIKEABLE CHARACTERS - I don't care about anyone in the game yet, there is no one I have really warmed too so far, and so don't care much about their fate. Oblivion and Fallout for me had many, I really didn't want some of the characters to die but in Skyrim (it is early days) but not overwealmed with people I want to save. PICKING UP OBJECTS - In oblivion I really liked decorating my house with objects and artifacts, but it is much harder to manipulate objects and place them in Skyrim houses, although I do like the fact you can place books on the bookshelves now, hang weapons etc. THE MAP - Its pretty but not easy to navigate, I liked oblivions map as it felt more.. um map like, like an old treasure map or a magic map that would show your current location. SCROLLING - One of the things I hated about Oblivion was all time spent scrolling for things, torch anyone? and they haven't improved this much in Skyrim, still scrolling. QUEST LOG - I liked the extra description you had in Oblivion felt more like a note book, don't like the simple minimilist approach to quests in Skyrim. CHARACTER CREATION - there is NO character! I can't create the characters I want too they have simplified it so its easier to use but this is a negative as all the characters end up looking the same and don't even get me started on the hair! I would like more friendlier looking faces. LACK OF HUMOUR - Not much makes me laugh in Skyrim, there were some silly things, quests and characters in Oblivion that I loved, not much of this in Skyrim :( CAMERA ANGLES - I can't see my boots!!! lol I know this might not bother everyone but I REALLY want to see characters boots! and look around when on my horse! LOVEs - THE WORLD - Its beautiful! and fantastic to explore, the detail is incredible, I was outside Helgan and just looking at a random wall I was just amazed at how much they have done on this, I saw the ants too. WATER - I love it! it looks amazing and I like fishing, but would like a rod in the next game! WILDLIFE - Hunting is amazing, I love the fact a little fox just runs past you on the path, I like the hanging pheasents, rabbits and herbs. BLACKSMITHING, COOKING etc - love this adds so much to the game RP wise. DUNGEONS - They have improved these so much, I am finding them really exciting, much more unique and shorter, no more grinding! MAGIC - Love the combination spells, dragon shouts, animations I feel really powerful which is awesome! COMPANIONS/MARRIAGE - Brilliant for RP, and handy to carry stuff, but wish they did more in the way of dialog options, also the choice of male characters for my lady to marry is terrible, might not even bother, sadly no nice ones :( NO OBVIOUS GOOD GUYS - I love the fact that at first you think the Stormcloaks are the natural good guys and the Imperial legion the baddies but when you stay neutral and listen to both sides you can see it is not that straight forward, its a big choice to side with one or the other as both have good and bad points. Brilliant game and am so happy with it but some ironing needs to be done for the next game!
