Ghogiel
the animations are good. The state machines could in theory be more complex with more blends and all the havok behaviour action, I've been messing with the havok content tools for a year now, and tbh I can spot some actual bells and whistles in that side of things, but the animations are good. Nuff said. billyro: only 8 directional? lol. Actually I was messing with changing direction, I wouldn't mind looking into those anims, and how they blend. There is no way to compile the skeleton and the animations and view them together... nifskope no.... max no... havok behaviour no.... to work out exactly how it's all set up yet, hopefully at some point... anyway animations are good..? barrynor
@Vineyard yeah, the females look great... I entered the Companions hall, and one of the ladies made a sneer at me, and walked away whilst doing that, her face half turned towards me, and I almost felt like seeing if I could turn that sneer into something more kissable... it just looked... natural. Very nicely done.
JimboUK
PC Gamers sure do have a high opinion of their importance. The PC sales for Skyrim pale in comparison to Console pre-orders, and those people are who the game was designed for. The sense of entitlement floating around this thread is hilarious, as if Bethesda owes you something. The only people griping are the die-hard RPG gamers of yesteryear who jumped into a game designed for Console fans expecting another Morrowind. Be happy that they are still actively supporting the PC market and the modding community, I can name the PC games with a toolset on one hand. And spare me the "people who are content with the product are encouraging their lazyness" bulls***, because that's exactly what it is. Your complaining isn't going to accomplish anything, anymore than my optimisim will. This is a discussion forum, we're discussing a product we paid for. As for complaining, how to you think products improve? those who point out a products shortcomings are of more use to developers who want to improve their products than toadying fanboys who are of no use to anyone. The changes Bethesda make from game to game tend to be in reaction to criticism of their previous effort, if we're left to the fanboys nothing would change. As for PC games, PC gaming is on the up, why do you think EA are pushing Origin so hard? there's no licence fee to pay to console manufacturers and in a lot of cases no physical media to produce. PC gaming can very profitable.
Max3078
I would have to agree with the bland and stiff animations. I love Skyrim and have put in countless hours of game play so far.The story is awesome as well! A great choice of GOTY but I would have to pick BF3 :D. I can’t believe the amount on content that is in this game, the world is massive and the terrain is wonderfully done, there are a bunch of different weapons and armor. It is one of my favorite games so far and has a great replay value! There is just so much to do its unreal. My only gripes are the stiff and overall bad combat animations and lack of combat flexibility. When fighting the dragons they fly like they are on rails, sliding through the sky rather than gliding. Yes it’s still fun to fight them but when you see this giant beast flying through the air and abruptly turn like nobody’s business it drags me out of the immersion and I think “wow that was lame”. After they land on the ground it’s awesome. I think it’s awesome you guys added the finishing and I love the decapitation, but if you are going to add something like that at least take some additional time to make proper sounds and animations. When performing a finishing move on a bear with a war hammer he gets jabbed in the mouth and yet it plays a sword through flesh sound. It sounds completely out of place. A slit throat animation shows the guy getting the top of his head scalped. Maybe it’s just how my system runs the game, this is a console port after all and every PC is different. The combat is not exciting, it’s rather bland. Block, Swing, Magic, Shoot, that is all there is to it. . . I was hoping we would get just a little more on the combat side. That’s one of the main game play aspects about the game right? How about at least being able to kick? Your legs are the most powerful part of your body yet I can’t kick people or push them away. How about a way to parry or dodge an enemy attack rather than letting the random generation choose for me? How about being able to get around shields? All you can do is do a power swing and make them stagger, there was some great swordsmanship back in those days and people had talent and where able to do amazing stuff. Why not try to capture some of that in the combat? Could have different sword play styles? At least something more than swing/block maybe there could have been something like a toggle different styles as simple as offensive and defensive. Offensive would decrease armor rating but add too overall damage with a % chance to get around enemy shields. Defensive would increase overall armor rating but decrease overall damage, it would also add a % chance to parry/dodge an enemy attack. I knew these things where not going to be in the game but maybe if you read this you will think about them and at least raise the question about additional game play. I would have been completely happy if there was a little less content and better combat game play and animations, those are the main aspect of the game and seem to be lacking. I’m enjoying the game because the sheer amount of content and makes up for the lack of combat, I just wish it was the other way around. I have faith there will be allot of mods that will fix a few of my gripes. Just bringing more discussion to the table.

There are things we wanted to add but simply did not have enough time to implement well. Ultimately We wanted a lot of content because we wanted the world to feel full and immersive. But dont worry, we certainly try to improve on everything we do based in no small part from fan feedback
