Squirmtheboss
I apologize if this has been discussed at any length. I searched around and did not find it. I am new to the Elder Scrolls and have a question regarding Enchanting. I understand the basic gist of it: disenchant your armor/weapons to learn the enchant, and then use a soul gem to enchant another item. What I dont understand is why I disenchant, for instance, a "Robes of Minor Destruction (15% reduced Destruction spells cost, 50% increased magicka regen) but when I go to use the enchant it is a meager 5% cost reduction and 10% increased magicka regen. Why? TL;DR DE "Robes of Minor Destruction", learn enchant-----> only able to enchant a small percentage of the initial enchant Why? Thanks in advance. RejectedCamel
Increase your enchanting skill, and use better soul gems. Grand soul gems with grand souls give quite a generous increase in the % of the effect, greater gives a small increase, common gives the standard %, lesser gives a slight decrease in %, petty gives barely any %. Serrimo
You disenchant to learn a specific enchantment (+magic regen, -destruction cost in your case). The actual strength applied to an item is based on your enchantment level and the size of the soul used.
Tweetybird
How's your enchanting skill? Probably low, that's why it still sucks. The more you enchant and the better soul gems you have, the better your enchanting will get. It's the same as every other skill.
soot00
In the enchant tree there are certain perks to up those "measly" stats.

And you need grand soul gems with grand souls. AND you need to enchant robes. Armor has a limited amount of enchant space compared to them. But well.... yeah those. I am pretty certain you will never get 100% magic regen on a cuirass. Edited November 15, 2011 by Ghogiel
