Kind of Sad - a Thank You can go a long ways.

Wonder if I donated a million dollars to the mod author whose name appears most frequently in the NMM author column, if I could get a reserved table at the Arthmoor International House of Pancakes, or at least a free stack of blueberry pancakes?

Whether we donate money or shares in the Bethesda Mining Corporation, we should show our gratitude to the authors on their Nexus pages by saying thanks for the enjoyable mod.

Depending on who, for that amount, they may end up marrying you. Never mind IHOP.

Now it might be they had a bad day?

I am starting to donate to Mod Creators of specific mods that I feel are worth the $$ to me, in that I would like to see more of "this" or "that" kind of Mods.

Both were over $10.00 and I will leave it at that and no, it was not $11.00

But in neither case did I get a "Thanks!" - "Thank You!" or "Why did you do this, this mod is not worth that .. but Thanks!"

But sadly neither of them have taken the time. It's been over 1 week to 1.5 weeks with both. Sadly I will not be donating to them again.

The Strange thing is - both Mod's Desc. Page encourage "ENDORSE, it means a lot and keeps me motivated and if you want to share of few pennies / dimes, I will not say, "no" to those either."

The above is paraphrased, so as to the avoid "Fall Out".

Now maybe I just gave to the wrong the Mod Creators?

Jesus Christ OP, this is some extremely needy and attention seeking behavior.

"Why did you do this, this mod is not worth that .. but Thanks!"

This line says it all. Why would you donate when you think the mod is not worth it. The air of superiority in that sentence. The fact that you envisioned someone replying to you in such a manner. You remind me of

those guys who buy a girl a drink at the bar and expect her to instantly spread her legs in overwhelming gratitude.

When you did not receive the attention and approval you sought to buy with you're more than 11 bucks, you turned to the forums to let the world know how you have been wronged.

A donation is your "thank you" to the modder for making you free s#*!. Expecting a thank you for a thank you is just awkward.

There was quite a good GTKYMA stream with DDP, Elianora, Gopher and a good number of others who explained this quite well.

They'd LOVE to thank everybody who donates to them, honestly, they said it themselves. They simply CAN'T.

The problem is the time it takes to thank everyone who messages or donates, and setting a precedent to thank absolutely everyone by doing so!

It isn't ingratitude, it's simply that they'd have to work a damn-sight longer to get the content out that you're thanking them for, which would be completely self-defeatist.

Their giving of 100% of their effort in their next big project is their display of gratitiude for your support for their last project.

Don't forget that. Your support drives modders to do better!

The way I see donations.... It must be a really good mod if I go that far and when I do, I am doing so NOT to get a thank you letter but to try and make sure that particular mod author can continue updating and contributing without having to worry about his Internet bill not getting paid this month. Big difference between buying a "share or stock" and a donation. All mod creators deserve recognition but the small handful that push the limits trying to help us out, deserve a lil extra at times just to reassure them that "We" as a community really do appreciate all their efforts and costs.

People have been suspended for even mentioning the donate buttons location.

Also, it might be easy for them to miss who donated, I have listened to more then a few modders youtube channels, where they mentioned they got a donation but didn't catch the name of the person who did it. I'd imagine its easy to do if you mod on your off time, so its like a neat, got a donation! Now back to modding!

We don't know who sent donations we only get a message from PayPal a donation has been sent and the real name of the person who sent it. There is absolutely no way of knowing which Nexus member sent it at all unless they send a PM. Other than that we can add a generic "thank you to those who donated" but other than we don't have a clue, like the Kudos system no-one knows who clicked that button except the person who sent it.
