Reneer
Reading comprehension seems to be a lost art. From the contest rules:"By entering the Contest, Entrants represent and warrant that they have obtained all of the rights, licenses, and permissions in writing from any person who may have helped create the Entry (or from an appropriate parent/legal guardian if any such person(s) is considered a minor in their eligible country of residence);" As it was Nvida that picked the finalists for their own contest, I would assume they checked to make sure what they were picking was following their own rules. Several of the mods picked seem to have credits, thank yous, etc. and this is certainly far from the first contest of this sort they have run. Also from the contest rules:This Contest is open to individuals only. No team entries and no corporate or institutional entries are permitted in this Contest. Employees of Sponsor, its affiliates, and their respective contractors, service providers and professional advisors connected with this Contest, as well as members of their immediate families and/or households, and employees of Bethesda Softworks and its affiliates, are NOT eligible to enter.Modern Firearms is definitely a team effort and not the work of an individual. New Companion, Radio Station (WRVR) is also a team mod. And yes, NVIDIA reserves the right to pick the finalists. But what about all the team mods that didn't enter the contest because they read over the rules? Edited July 25, 2016 by Reneer
valdacil
I think there is a distinct difference between a mod author that has friends contribute assets (models, meshes, textures, etc) and that author then creates something themselves which includes those assets (still an individual effort) and a mod that is built, maintained and updated as a team effort. If you argue that the contribution route constitutes a team effort, then every mod that uses Bethesda's assets would be classified as a team effort between the mod author and Bethesda Softworks. So everyone was on a level playing field in that regard. Did I ask any of my friends to help me create my contest entry? No. Because more than one individual working on a project, no matter if they simply "contributed" assets or not, constitutes a team effort. I imagine those friends who contributed assets to a mod would want to set out a structured timeshare for that NVIDIA card the finalists all get. Or their piece of that $10,000 prize for the grand prize winner. Edited July 25, 2016 by Reneer

steve40
I doubt that entering a contest would count as "commercial use".

I don't stand there with my hand out asking for my share. I feel sorry for you, it must get lonely being so alone. I'm also done now arguing on the internet. No one wins and I always feel dumber for trying.

Since you're going after my character instead of the argument, let me give you some insight: If my friends and I work together on a project we all share the success equally. So the next time you think about trying to impugn my reputation, I suggest you try something else. Edited July 25, 2016 by Reneer

Deleted82156User
Congrats to the winner and everyone else that won in their category! You folks who are now $10,000 or $5,000 richer. A fair warning to you winners though, you should have read the rules properly...there was a rule tucked waaaaay down in the Nvidia rules in tiny lettering that states.... 'All winners are obligated to buy everyone else a round of drinks' I shall have champagne please. For my part I am just glad this is over. Edit...erm maybe I should have posted this in another thread....I just saw some of the winners in here....The contest is over and yes the whole thing was a complete farce but that is not the fault of the finalists, but Nvidia's.
