I did everything that was mentioned.

Setting the option to 0 and then to 1.

Changing my skyrimPref.ini by adding in [Launcher] every way, I put it in the top, the middle, the button, checked for an extra launcher. Nope.

I deleted my skyrimpref.ini and still no luck, it didn't even create a new one...

I have three SkyrimPrefs.ini files, I changed the one in Computer > Local Disk C: > Users > -Username- < AppData < Local < Skyrim < My Games < Skyrim to fix a fullscreen resolution problem, so I know that is the real one.

I am running windows 7.

Ever since I downloaded that skyrimprefs.ini folder, I CANNOT load a saved game. Luckily, all my saves are still there in the folder.

I have tried EVERYTHING. I spent about 6 hours of my free time just trying to fix this damn thing! Bethesda, I swear you release yet ANOTHER buggy as hell game. I will do something...

I am going to try and reinstall skyrim BUT, keep all my saved games. I hope to God they aren't corrupted or bad.

I have tried EVERYTHING and nothing, and I mean NOTHING works. In my history, I have googled, "Skyrim greyed out data files" 23 times.

By the way, these are like bullet points or something, but now I am going to reinstall the steam version. I hope it will just work already, or I'm going to just play something else.

MAJOR EDIT:

Steam was my knight in shining armor. As soon as I reinstalled, EVERYTHING WORKED. Not only that, but steam kept ALL of my old save games. Thank you so much steam! So just ignore that stupid rant at the top of this comment.

Ummm....I am glad you got it working, but your save games are not kept by Steam (ing Pile), they are in your My Documents\My Games\Skyrim\Saves folder. I would not be too quick to thank Steam as when their servers are mucking about, as they were the other day when I tried reinstalling Steam and then Skyrim after my rig rebuild, they can give you a corrupt download. In my case I could not save and had to uninstall and reinstall AGAIN.

[Launcher]

bShowAllResolutions=0

uLastAspectRatio=2

bEnableFileSelection=1

and the

bEnableFileSelection=0

methods and also installed steam to get updates for game from them to then access libary throught to skyrim local game files to verify integrity of game cache as advised from someone else on here but to know avail, can anyone assist in fixing this?

Most of the people who say they have already tried putting bEnableFileSelection=1 into their ini have put it into the wrong copy of the ini. :rolleyes:

OR, they think they are running as administrator when they really aren't :wallbash:

Both of these are from my troubleshooting blog which has much more help available. :thumbsup:
