croc123
I Hve recently tried to download several files, one ot them being 'witcher 3 HD Reworked Project'. each time I try to d/l this file, I get a sophos web protect popup that scand the filem tells me it is OK, then suggests I collect this file 'here', being a url for a server within Sophos network. However, whenever I try to retrieve the file, I always get 'server not found' My Laptop does not use Sophos there no Sophos entries in the registry. Oubliette
The nexus does use a virus scanner to make sure no one's uploading viscous files (though I can't remember it's name) but it'll never take you to another page and ask you to download anything. It's generally never good to go to a different page, other than the site you wanted to, to download anything if you're getting a redirect consider it malicious and run your virus scanner. Dark0ne
We definitely don't use any system like that. Please can you provide screenshots. Also ensure your PC is malware and virus free by running a virus scan and running MalwareBytes.
evilgiraffe
Well, this is awkward.I actually work for Sophos.I'm not aware of any product which would do what you suggest here (and we definitely don't want to rehost every file you find on the net, that's basically making a copy of the internet!) so I'd say that looks dodgy, and is probably malware pretending to be a legitimate security tool, i.e. piggybacking on our good name : PYou can submit the URLS to Sophos, I'm sure Labs would be very interested to take a look, and could give you a more definitive response (full disclosure, I work in IT, not on the products). There's a form on the support page: https://www.sophos.com/en-us/support.aspx Oh, and I realise this probably isn't the time to convince you to use it, but if you're looking for some security software, we have a home version which is free: https://www.sophos.com/en-us/lp/sophos-home.aspx (oh mighty Dark0ne, please don't ban me for advertising, I'm just trying to be helpful...) edit: Oh and the file scan you use is called VirusTotal, a free analytics API Edited July 23, 2016 by evilgiraffe
