cossayos
I always tend to play what I am not. So female is my first choice if given the opportunity. As for voice acting, I feel sorry for people not being able to play the original. I once tried the German version, since it''s my first language. If you want an excercise in emotionless, that's the way to go. Actually it's that way with every game I know of. Much too clean, no slang, no accents, no dialects. DoctorKaizeld
My issie with the main character though is both seem to smile a lot while talking... Sorta of odd to me and i dont like it
StarMystyk
I used to prefer the female but little things about her annoy me now. The idles and the fidgeting in 3rd person.I'm finding the male to be much more fun to play.I use a mod to make his voice deeper and one to make hers higher, though just slightly. The guy sounded too much like a wimp otherwise. The smiling thing is a bit annoying at times. They'll go through most of the dialogue with a scowl and suddenly a big smile that's not what I wanted. More often when choosing the down arrow. I find I'm using the left and right choices the most, which suits my character.
DoctorKaizeld
Yeah sometimes i want my character to look serious or straight faced during dialog. But no always the weird smile every other word or sentence.
barrettsfloyd
I find the male voice actor makes my character sound like a whiner regardless of which option he chooses. I simply cannot roleplay an unfeeling, uncaring, jackass, and completely ignore the fact that he comes across as a whiny b&@*$ no matter what he says or does. That said, overall, I really don't mind the idea of a voiced protagonist, I simply find that it's execution just plain sucks in Fallout 4. Overall I find the female voice acting to be an improvement over the male, but even she annoys me some.
DoctorKaizeld
I wish they gave us options for the voice and general attitude. A lot of RPGs do that. Even Saints Row does that better
zanity
You have got to be trolling. People want to role play in Fallout- the 'sole survivor' is NOT Geralt with a pre-existing character and fully fleshed out history. Having a voice for the player is bad enough- suggesting that a 'fruity' (emotional) voice is better than a neutral one is plain idiotic. And this isn't even a matter of taste. Cramming any pre-conceived character characteristic down the throat of the Fallout gamer is wrong in every possible way. The PLAYER is supposed to make the choices- ALL OF THEM. Good or bad. Cynical or naive. Brave or cowardly. Now that's a bit tricky to believe in when one's character delivers his/her lines in a fruity, pre-baked way. It gets worse. Saint's Row is NOT this genre of open-world game, but its devs had the decency to record lines for both the male and female optional characters by multiple voice actors- I think the latest one had THREE female voices and three male voices. FO4 is one of the biggest earning computer games ever- yet Beth cheaped out on the dev budget in every possible way - including player voice options. PS peeps who like Skyrim/Fallout for the modding appreciate mods that allow the player to appear in almost any form they so wish- making a question like "what character do you play with" seem rather pointless. The whole point of true role palying is to NOT seek approval from others. But then again we also get the console crowd in here- and as the horror of ONLINE achievements proves, most console players can't do a thing without first considering the 'approval' of their 'peers'. DoctorKaizeld
My point is that i want variety in my characters tone... My character should not be cheery and happy all the freakin time. Also my point on saints row is directed at how they have 3 options for both male and female. We are not playing ME where we have a prebuilt character that we have limited influence in creating so having only one option in Fallout is not enough. bethjunkie
I can't stand having a voiced player character or the half constipated/half drunk faces they make while speaking. The male voice actor did a better job in my opinion. I can tolerate him easier than I can the female char who makes me want to shove sharp pencils in my ears. Is she going for sexy because all I get is monotone? And I always play female characters >.<
