Heartcloud
Because female characters look 353023x better? Because I'm not gay and not interested in staring at fugly musclemen? Funny thing is the only guys who look remotely well-groomed are the redguards and argonians (look much better than Oblivion argonians).I guess if you like musclemachos over style, then you won't mind playing a male character. Rough musclemachos aren't my cup of tea so that's why I choose female character.
StayFrosty05
Yeah. It's OK to have people chopping off each others heads in this game (or to even witness public beheadings), but can you imagine the outcry if Lars and Braith had their own scene in the market circle of Whiterun, with him kissing her and they make up and become great friends? What horrors! Public affection ... and between children, no less! Give me blood and guts and gore and ... anything but that! So, what does all this have to do with guys playing girls in Skyrim? Nothing? Actually, it has everything to do with it, because both issues stem from something that seems to be part and parcel of our culture. It's called "double standards". A guy plays a female character in a game and suddenly he's "suspect". A girl plays a male character in the same game and nobody bats an eye. Extreme violence? Sure, mate. Bring it on! Drugs (don't forget Skooma, Moon Sugar, Hist Sap, and Sleeping Tree Sap)? Absolutely! That's good stuff! Gimme more! Sex, even implied? What are you, anyway? Some kind of pervert? You may be surprised actually, there's a rather loud vocal feminist minority out there who find other women playing males in game to be highly offensive and are not shy about letting you know....I'm in a Mass Effect Forum also, that's where it's most prevalent in my personal experience....I play a male in ME also, same reasons: Eye Candy, sexy hero....In fact embarrassingly I suspect I have something of a crush on my custom Shepard... ....I'm of the forming opinion that it seems to be most commonly in the providence of the very young to find those playing the opposite sex an oddity or aggravation, in my experience anyway....my teenage daughters male friends finding my playing males odd and the radicals claiming my choice aggravating. As for perversion, I'm a perverted freak.... ....I'm happy to give my Dovahkin a sex life (no, he doesn't jump everything in sight, though neither is he married), but can't bring myself to turn him into a drug addict.... :ermm: Edited May 3, 2012 by StayFrosty05

Pentigan
My first character was a male Argonian. So far all my other ones have been female. Because even though I play in first-person, I like the side-story of a female character in what would be a rather sexist society if it were closer to it's real-world ties. Well, that and it's nice to have something cute to look at while crafting some new gear. And the female Shout voices are pretty cool. And a little bit of being a yuri fanboy... Systex
I don't have anything against female warriors. Sure they do exist, but these retarded 18+ ruin the game. Of course it's just a matter of opinion, I'm not gay and I can't stand playing as a female. Weird or not, playing as a female is just what makes me feel gay. So whenever I'm looking for mods on Skyrim Nexus and someone is about to enter my room I quickly switch to pornhub, cause it's easier to explain. And it makes me sad that there are a lot of 18+ mods in the Skyrim top 100. A lot. If you believe female warriors wear school girl clothes, have big jiggly boobs, and run almost naked through the snow, you sir, are f***ed up. eltucu
Well, there are a few standard answers: "Cuz i dun like to stare at a guys azz, duh" (often implying that everyone who plays a dude is gay)"Cuz i secretly want to be a woman, duh" (often implying that everyone who plays a woman is gay and/or transvestite)"Cuz i'm a horny teenager, duh" (often implying that only teenagers download "adult" mods) And probably the one that i agree with, "Cuz i want to roleplay my fantasies in a fictional world, duh" I think that there is a fair ammount of people who roleplay a female who they would be with (or at least do naughty things with). I dont play female characters because i like to roleplay as a male, its more familiar to me ( "cuz im a male, duh!" ) though i guess that if i played a female character, i'd probably play it the same but with a different body type lol Though i do play 95% of the time in 1rst person and there isnt much dialogue in TES who defines well enough your gender/sexuality and/or opinions so it woulnt matter that much in this case. PD: Stop starting your answers with "im not gay but...", no one is saying that you are! Everyone's sexuality seems to be at risk so these kind of threads usually end in being a bunch of maleness self reassurance posts.
Hersir666
It's kinda funny hearing these comments about rather starring/looking at a female's ass for hundreds of hours than males, especially when referring to a game. Besides the fact that this is a game. Do people really just sit there infront of the computer and stare at their toons/characters ass? I mean, I have playerd for over 350 hours by now, both in first and third person, but I absolutly do not recall my characters/toons ass, whatsoever. I am sure that I saw it at some point, I would have had to when running in third person, but for that to be the PRIMARY decision for choosing your character's gender is a bit sad. If that's the case, you should probably have spent the money on getting out there and picking up a girl and if that seems to unattainable of an undertaking just get some free porn online;). Note: This is in gerads to this specific comment that I keep reading. Other than that, I totally understand, as previously mentioned in a post, when people roleplay and create different character/storylines for different genders. TwistedMethod
They are generally easier on the eye, besides, most armor mods are for female. Plus they have nicer face textures for sceenshots thanks to mods, thats just my personal opinion.
