luddemann
So I've started re texturing and I've noticed that where it should be transparent, it turned black. How do I prevent/fix it? Sunnie
You are losing the alpha channel (used for transparency masking) when saving your modified texture. Make sure you are using the Nvidia dds plugin, make sure you don't delete the alpha channel, and make sure that you save the file as the same dds type as the original textxture. Aikospacerogue
hehe good work on those dragons, I was making a few myself =D preventing : save a PSD to work from fixing ; open up your DDS file in photoshopopen up a fresh DDS of the same thing. Copy your image on top of the fresh one ,flatten layers, save as "DTX3 with alpha and mipmaps" or whatnot , done !
luddemann
Thanks mate, but could try to explain a little bit more. I i didnt quite get how and why I should work from a PSD file. Dont know how to open up a fresh DDSI can see where it says DTX3, but it doesnt say with alpha and minimaps. It says "DTX3 ARGB 8 bpp | explicit alpha" Sorry for the noobness. I'd love to see those dragens when ur done. Not quite happy with my own just yet.
Bloodinfested
If your looking for transparency make sure that you have masked the layer 1st on the psd layer and all layers need a mask then when you save to dds dtx3 with explicit alpha is fine there is also a dtx5 with a alpha witch would work, min maps is for distance on textures more the better so generate min maps options to (all)
