Iv000
I love it, it exceeded my expectations. The only negative thing I can say about Skyrim is that the Creation Kit isn't out yet.
elleonblanco
Skyrim so far is great. I have enjoyed many hours of questing and looting. The dungeons are top notch. Of course some things are very lackluster as not all the quests can be an epic journey. If you are not playing in master difficulty you are only gimping yourself. As with all the Beth games that have come out the glitches can even be enjoyable to a point. Dead creatures that are still moving. Dead creatures standing like a statue or frozen in mid air. Weapons and other items frozen in mid air. This all adds to the quirkiness of any of the Beth games. Sometimes I find myself chuckling at these strange artifacted items. As for it being ruined by the 1.2 patch thank goodness I was fortunate enough to tell my firewall to block outgoing connections when I set the game up. I almost allowed it to update when I heard the patch was out but as I had to work that day I hit the Nexus here when I got home and saw all the negative feedback on it before I made that mistake. Overall I have had very few problems with the game. Hate the UI. Spent well over 100 hours playing already and am still on my first character now at level 47. Was smart enough to specialize in two skill trees and keep an eye on the forums here so as not to do any game breaking thing like power leveling. So, I am having a fantastic game playing experience and have to feel that a lot of the problems people are experiencing are brought on themselves by trying to become a demigod by the level 2. elvinkun
Well, they screwed up al hell lot of things, and the patches made it all a lot worse... And why do we all care? Why are people getting all mad and crazy about it? Because they love the game, you can't really be so bothered about bugs in game you consider bad. So yes, it is quite awesome and I do believe that almost all of the people complaining think so too, but it could've been... or perhaps still will be closer to the "best". What bugs me most so far... well, apart from missing textures and other things 1.2 fixed for me is the way Bethesda behaves. Starting with making it a console port, ending with no communications / misinformation (Or perhaps I should just say "lies"). But at the end of the day, it's great. abaris
Not the best game I have played these last few years, but one of the better ones. Yes, I like it, though certain aspects do annoy me.
headbomb
Skyrim is a genuinely good game, crippled by a shitty UI, has some puzzling design oversights, several bugs, utterly crapastic patches, and falls a bit short of its potential because of consoles. The best way of putting it is it's a bit like watching Lord of the Ring in VHS, rather than Blu-Ray. That said, mods will fix 95% of the issues.*UI mod will be the most downloaded mod ever once it's released*Mods like Lost Art of the Blacksmith making Smithing fun again, especially since you can now improve certain magical artifacts to make them as good as their non-magical counterparts*High-Res textures packs are on their way*Unofficial patch will fix the bugs*Fixed-level world will be here eventually [after CK]*Mods willrebalance the game and fix exploits [after CK]*Mods will add much needed weapon/magic/armor variety [after CK] I'm 161 hours in, and will put countless of hours more. In its current state, it is much better than vanilla Oblivion, but less so than than a fully-modded Oblivion. Skyrim dungeons and cities however, crushes anything Oblivion had to offer, but fail short of Morrowind. This is mostly because Morrowind makes full use of 3D, because it wasn't a consolified title, meaning you didn't have to remove the fly spell because consoles couldn't handle open cities. And I terribly miss Daedric ruins. A fully modded Skyrim however, will completely crush a fully-modded Oblivion. Dwight Darkmoon
It's an awesome game. Of course the forum is full of negative feedback... the majority of the people loving the game are too busy playing it to post about it ^^ Adrius2 is 100% right. I play 1 or 2 hours a day and i can barely find the time to look up the forum to know if the creation kit is out. This is how i came across this post. There is some balancing to do. Some stuff are too hard for some class while being too easy for other. Nothing serious in my opinion. i think its normal with a game of this magnitude. The good news is, it will only get better with time. I love this game and i already voted Skyrim for game of the year! http://www.thenexusforums.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/thumbsup.gif
stars2heaven
I'd like to get some more balanced opinions on Skyrim. It's been widely raved about by critics, and while nobody listens to them anymore, it's got the highest aggregate score I've ever seen on STEAM. I personaly really love it, I find it addictive the way I found FNV, immersive like I found Oblivion, and OMGHUGE like EVE. TBH I really love it, it's probably the best all-round game I've played in many a year, and I look forward to the dawn of the age of Skyrim mods, because frankly, I think that's gonna rock. However, I've seen an overpoweringly negative reaction on the Nexus-the vast majority of posts I've seen on the Skyrim forum in review of Skyrim are complaints, or rants, or nonsensical gibbering about how people can't understand why the game's so easy with TGM turned on. Do you guys... actualy hate Skyrim or is it just a very vocal minority? I really am curious. I think most people who like the game aren't on these forums saying how much they like the game. So you end up seeing all the people with complaints.
ginnyfizz
So, I am having a fantastic game playing experience and have to feel that a lot of the problems people are experiencing are brought on themselves by trying to become a demigod by the level 2. Can you please explain to me why my crashing to desktop without the aid of a third party programme to launch the game has anything to do with trying to become a demigod by level 2? It's a memory and 64 bit system issue (and my character was already about level 25 when along came patch 1.1 to cause the problem.)

Such as "The game is too easy, it sucks!", not technical side. Edited December 2, 2011 by elvinkun
Arcadiast
the reason why people always talk about bad stuff is simple "if it aint broke, dont fix it". The good stuff works, is fun, is good! no need to bi*** about it right? and honestly posts that go like this "man i love this, man i love that, man i really really love this and that" tend to get ...well boring :).
