ghreaper
Hey everyone I have enjoyed this community and being part of it since Skyrim, I've never had issues with modding games like Skyrim or The witcher 3 but for months I can't seem to play Fallout 4 without these nasty random CTD. I used to use over 100 mods now i'm down to 46 here's my load order any help would be amazing! These Crashes Happen randomly and always outside the settlement, I have restarted this game a hundred times(not lying) I wouldn't think this is hardware related but just in case i'll write down my specs. GPU- EVGA GTX 1060 6gb SC *updated drivers and Bios* CPU- AMD FX 8350 *With Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo cpu cooler* Motherboard- ASUS 970 Pro Gaming/Aura Ram- 16gb RipJaws 1600mhz EVGA 750 watt psu 1TB harddrive Any help would be appreciated, I know Fallout 4 has become a modding nightmare but I'd hope it would be a little more stable now....I could be wrong I just really want to play this game. Thank you for taking the time to read this long post!
SharraShimada
Mods know to cause trouble: Weahter mods of all kind. Try without them. You use unofficial patch. No problem with that, but it should be on top of the list. directly after the main game and dlc files. And ASVektor. It crashed hard alle the time, and yes its the mod. Removed and everythings finde. Acitvated - crashes. A nice weapon but poorly coded. And then, try and use ENB-Boost. Yes you have a 6GB videocard. But FO4 can consume even that amount of memory. ghreaper
Alright so I got rid of a bunch of mods, no more weather, armorkeywords has been removed and crafting workbenches. Now I'm having crashing to desktop in the same areas. One outside the Dremlin Diner when you gotta help Trudy and her Drugged up Son *coming from the Starlight Drive in* when leaving the drive in the second I get to the road *crash* I have to go the long way around just to get to the Diner. The second one I found is by the Quarry *three different spots coming in will CTD* so I just gave up on doing the water valve quest. any idea why these crashes are happening? P.s I did try the ENB-Boost but for some reason it does more harm to my FPS than it actually helps, I watched the videos, set my memory accordingly before ENB-Boost I was averaging 60 solid fps unless I was doing mass building in settlements and it was raining it would dip to high 40s low 50s. after enb-boost i was averaging 40-45fps. ClayboTGW
Make sure when removing your mods that you get any of their loose files out as well even thou the esp is gone the game will still load but not run loose scripts also interface data, textures and meshes that are left behind can cause conflicts that can lead to crashes lastly make sure your game is using all of your PC's Cores if it's only using one core this will task your cpu hard causing it to peg out at 100% then crash. P.S. A modded games will always crash here and there some but if it's constant crash at a constant place then you have something conflicting. JimmyRJump
Probably hasn't anything to do with installed mods but rather the common issue of V-RAM spikes when loading certain areas. Have a look at ENBoost (lets you use system RAM as V-RAM) and ShadowBoost (link's on the same page) and then check out Hein84's Vivid series. The latter are a series of texture overhauls with smaller but better looking textures that use less RAM and are thus easier on your computer... ghreaper
Hey thanks for the reply Jimmy, I was looking at installing the Vivid mods after reinstalling this game many many times I'm with you with it not being a mod issue. Also he mentioned to make fallout 4 use all my cpu cores I'm not too sure how to go about doing that. I'll also reinstal ENBoost and shadowboost and see if this helps! But yes I'll try the vivid mods out and see if this helps, thanks for the replies! ghreaper
Thank you for all your replies helping me get fallout 4 working again, I download all the Vivid landscape mods, ENBOOST/Shadow Boost get an average 55-60fps dips down to 45ish in settlement building. Game is running better than ever and no CTD for the 2 hours I've been playing. So even if I get some random CTD along the way it's now playable and enjoyable. Thank you so much!
