DjinnKiller
Hi!This maybe a stupid question, but.....Is it possible to have a dual installation of Fallout 4 (bought via Steam)? And I mean everything in parallel, NMM, LOOT, FO4, mods, the works? The reason for my question as that I've kind of have two gaming modes.Mode 1 is with all mods, playing around with everything from tattoos to settlements.Mode 2 is pure FPS, killing everything in sight. I have a subset of mods that I really like when going all FPS, and would like to have this installation as pure as possible.I guess it's solvable by using profiles in NMM and switching savegames, but it's kind of neat if I could totally separate the installations. :-)Any advice is much appreciated.Thank YouDK
JimboUK
Rename your Fallout folder to something like Fallout 4mods, then create a new Fallout 4 folder calling it maybe Fallout 4fps and copy (don't move) the contents from the Fallout 4mods folder to the Fallout 4fps folder, you now have two installations and you can select which one is active simply by renaming the folder back to Fallout 4. DjinnKiller
No no reallyThank You.I will check it out, a couple of replica VMs will sort this.Next is to switch the registry since I run both NMM and LOOT as installed applications. But as I understand your answers it should be feasible

I do this with New Vegas, I have my playing installation and a clean one for testing.

Lazerlatte
Huh. I didn't know you could actually do this o.o Well, this'll certainly be useful when using total conversion mods. :)
Crosstieger
What's the benefit over NMM's profile function? I have a "mod" profile and a "vanialla" one. If you have to physical installation, isn't that a waste of disk space??
