Cybordania
I have been playing Fallout 4 since it came out, Had its ups and its downs, overall fun. Still playing it but at times I just don't want to you know? Feeling the same way about WoW too. Have a question for all of you die-hard Skyrim players. Steam has a deal for Skyrim and all DLC for like $40. Would it be worth it, game-play wise, to get it? Hear great reviews but never played before. Thanks in Advance
Boombro
I think there is an offer, you buy that pack and get SSE for free for a limited time. I say go for it. Even if you hated base skyrim, you can mod what you hate.
panurgy
Are you on console or PC? Are you interested in mods? If you don't mind going down that rabbit hole, the answer is a huge yes. Fallout 4 has more dialog and better NPC interaction. But some of it backfires because of poor writing and the horrible dialog system. Skyrim is more sparse in terms of dialog/NPC interaction, etc., but it actually comes out better for that. (And you can deepen those areas with mods like 3DNPC and Interesting NPCs, as well as custom followers, some of whom are much more interactive and have more dialog than anything in either game). Also, Skyrim beats FO4 easily when it comes to sandbox exploration. If you like to run around and check things out, Skyrim is amazing. It took me around 300 hours before I'd seen everything, and probably 200 before I'd seen most things. Fallout 4 has better movement and combat, but that can mostly be addressed with mods. If you don't use mods, you'll probably get tired of it, but how long that takes depends on how you much you like hack and slash and relatively low difficulty. The other big issue, to me at least, is that Skyrim uses the same radiant system for it's quests, but there's more hand-crafted content, and less "Faction XX wants you to kill raiders at this location". Don't get me wrong, you still get those, but they're mixed in with better quests. And there's no Preston Garvey style pestering.
Cybordania
To Boombro - Ya there is an offer. Never played base Skyrim but been thinking about it. Lil change from FO4 and all. To Panurgy - PC. Good! I can do with less talking to those npc's in FO4. annoying. Ya, FO4 was actually more fun to go lookin than questing so that part i'll like. I do use mods... too many at times so no problem there. I just figured its a good deal for only around $40 for all of it and the bump to the SE. Even though its "last year's" game. so what? A good game is a good game. Well thanks for the input. I really appreciate it.
Boombro
If it was not a huge risk for your wallet i say why not.
LeddBate
I'd like to chime in with a huge "YES!!" Panurgy's point about exploration is pretty much the big attraction for Skyrim. Use Arthmoor's "Alternate Start - Live Another Life" and you can pretty much ignore the main quest (until you want to try it) and write your own story. Master Thief? Battlemage for the Empire? Grizzled rebel for the Stormcloaks? Mercenary (both in the civil war and outside of it?) Adventurer? Assassin? Crusading Cleric? Paladin? Evil Lord? With the right combination of mods, you can be any of these characters and many more. The main game and the DLCs alone will provide you with hundreds of hours of play. Adding quest and campaign mods will easily double that time or more. Yeah, $40. is a GREAT deal for all that. Also, Nexus Mod Manager allows you to manage multiple setups for each game. So you can have different characters with different saves in the same game. There's even a mod that will allow you to use your other characters as NPC followers for whatever character you're playing at the moment. Sheesh. I guess that's enough fawning on my part for now...
