SkyUI 2.2 Works with the SSE

Just tried it. Was working, but incompatible with the only Ultra Widescreen fix that works on Special Edition... sigh. So at this point, it's 3 choices:

- play in widescreen (but Skyrim looks glorious on ultra widescreen!!), with SkyUI 2.2;

- play with original UI inventory (yeurk), but in ultra widescreen; or

- play with Skyrim original, which can provide both.

I have installed many mods, but overall I really prefer the special edition lighting and colors.

how to remove the skse nag and broken search function:

This guide is intended to be foolproof and it does some destructive edit. No doubt there are more elegant, non-destructive ways to do it but those are probably not so foolproof.

Following up my status report, here's a quick and dirty guide to remove SKSE warning from SkyUI 2.2 and cut off its dead weight.

As a preface - there are currently 3 main annoyances with SkyUI 2.2:

  1. SKSE nag screen
  2. Broken search widget
  3. Misaligned 3D preview for items

We'll be dealing with (1) and (2) but unfortunately at this stage nothing can be done about (3). Note that this modification changes nothing under the hood, it merely hides 2 out of the 3 annoyances from your view.

Things you need:

JPEXS Free Flash Decompiler - https://www.free-decompiler.com/flash/download/

Removing SKSE Warning

Inside "Interface" folder in SkyUI archive you'll see 4 swf files:

bartermenu.swf containermenu.swf inventorymenu.swf magicmenu.swf
  1. Open bartermenu.swf in JPEXS. You'll be greeted with a prompt - just click "No to all"
    http://imgur.com/yhUMzxL
  2. On the left-hand side you'll see a tree directory. Click "sprites" and navigate to "DefineSprite (13:BarterMenuObj)"
  3. Expand it and under "frame 1"* you'll see a bunch of objects with green "+" icons next to them. At the bottom you'll notice an object labelled "PlaceObject2(12) Depth: 9 (skseWarning)"
    http://imgur.com/ANcb5jb
  4. Right-click it and choose "Remove". You'll be asked to confirm, click "Yes"
    http://imgur.com/MPoQB4e
  5. And done. Click the big "Save" button at the top
    http://imgur.com/7erPy99

Repeat the steps for inventorymenu.swf, containermenu.swf and magicmenu.swf. I've listed their respective SKSE Warning location below -

containermenu.swf - Sprite 15(ContainerMenuObj) > Object 14(skseWarning)
inventorymenu.swf - Sprite 13(InventoryMenuObj) > Object 12(skseWarning)
magicmenu.swf - Sprite 12(MagicMenuObj) > Object 11(skseWarning)

Removing Search Widget

Inside "Interface\skyui" folder in SkyUI archive you'll see two relevant swf files:

inventorylists.swf tabbedinventorylists.swf
  1. Open inventorylists.swf following step (1) of the previous procedure.
  2. Expand "sprites" directory and find "DefineSprite (58:SearchWidget)"
  3. Right-click and remove the whole sprite and then save the file, as outlined in step (4) and (5) in the previous procedure. http://imgur.com/XliZUwD

For tabbedinventorylists.swf, the part to remove is "DefineSprite (68:SearchWidget)"

The only issue i am having with this mod is that i am unable to switch between say a storage container and my own on body storage; i am unable to switch between trading items with my follower and myself, i can only take items; not give.

You should see in the bottom right corner of the screen your name and the container/character you want to trade with. clicking theses names changes which way you are trading

A lot of effort for a little warning box. The fact that SkyUI 2.2 is a tremendous improvement on the original menu system is enough of a reason to use it. Hopefully, there will be a future or alternative version with the MCM menu system.

Edit: Use the R key to give items.

I do see the info you mentioned about the container/character on bottom of the screen; i guess i forgot to say i am using a controller on the pc and not the mouse and keyboard. I have tried all different types of button configs with the controller and just gave up lol

Edit: I figured it out; i am using and xbox one controller and the button is the little button right above the d-pad to swap between container/character.
