Astaril
Hi there,I am using Janassa as a follower at the moment and she is skilled in light armour and one handed weapons. I would like her to stay in light armour and carry the one handed weapon I have made for her but whenever I give her some heavy weapon or Armour to carry she equips it, even though she has no skill in this area. Does anyone know of a way I get her to carry my heavy stuff without equiping it?
elleonblanco
Followers always equip up to the strongest level of the items in their inventory. That means if you want her in light armor you have to carry the heavy armor.

I had hoped there would be some way around it like a console command, but I guess I just need more packmule.
BGatot
same thing with two handed weapons, follower would always equip them due to their higher base damage. Even if they're not really skilled with it!
nosisab
You must take into account their building (perks) ... if they specialize in heavy armor and two handed, a seemingly worst iron plate is better for them than that nightingale light armor or that legendary onehanded sword is not better than that simple steel battle axe. I'm not sure how enchantments are accounted if at all.
