Weird Glitch, keyboard not responding

Just started the game, able to launch and load the game as usual. But once in game I found the keyboard unresponsive. Well, some of it - the Tab key, ~ were working, and when the console came up I was able to type. But back in game, I can't move, change weapons etc using the keyboard.

Mouse working as it should.

What the hell is gong on?

I've had this issue myself. Quitting and restarting steam fixed it once but another time I had to do a full restart of my computer.

Uninstall any other UI device.

Thanks. A restart fixed it. But in all my 540 hours playing the game this is the first time I've encountered this.

TBH I think it's a steam glitch of some sort. I've only seen it twice (I think) as I said once just quitting steam worked and the other a full restart.

Did you have the steam overlay enabled?

Yes, if you mean the shift-tab thingy. It's always been enabled.

I'm about 90% sure that is what caused it, I've has something similar happen in the past after exiting the overlay.

 

In fact I just recreated the exact same scenario by opening and closing the overlay a few time in a different game, mouse, tilde and tab would work but not other keypresses until the game was reset.

This is what I thought too, I use the steam overly but only for the FPS counter. The only time I've had the keyboard cut out where when I accidentally opened the overly itself.

It happened to me once, I hit the Windows key, the only key working, right clicked the Fallout 4 icon in the Task Bar and closed it down, the keyboard worked ok after that so I restarted Fallout 4 and it was OK.
