abaris
You don't need some overly expensive rig to achieve this... All in all about 500 Euros should do the trick. But what game has ever lived up to the prerelease hype? I always wonder if I should laugh or cry at the naivity of folks believing in every BS the particular PR department feeds them. HadToRegister
The interface is complete crap, only 8 hotkeys screams "Console Controller", at least spend the extra time and make a PC interface, (the SkyUI team have put bethesda to shame in this) Limited Spells, Can't make your own spells, Enchanting is a PITA Modern games are getting better and better graphics, however because they have to fit on the 4-5 year old console hardware, the better the graphics get, the more content needs to be removed.I.E. Spell-Making, and a Magic System that isn't completely boring and only has a handful of spells.
Creosote999
I dont think Skyrim is crap, but I dont think its very good. Oblivion ported to a console, the ported back for the PC. Why do I need hundreds of books on Lore to read when I cant even manipulate the game because no-one at Bethesda thought it of the slightest importance to have a viable UI? I mean, its not like its a lesser thing, using and playing the game is done through the UI.
Bubblz
or so many people claim. Just what game am I missing then? Please do not mention another TES game. I have played them and Skyrim is better by any modern standard. I am actually just starting a game of Daggerfall on Dos-box but I am talking about a modern game here. My all time favorites are Baldur's Gate and Planescape: Torment but they are way to dated to consider at this point. I am talking about a game released in the last 2 or 3 years that even comes close to Skyrim. PC only please. I do not own a console. What am I missing? A bad attitude and obnoxious sense of entitlement? or maybe they have a differing opinion? Little late in responding, but certainly that's true and that's fine. Probably should have put some sarcasm tags there. But having worked my fair of customer service jobs, I quickly learned that even jerks with a valid complaints are still jerks. Nice people with complaints are just much, much easier to listen to and take seriously.
Pineapplerum
No game is going to please everyone and no game is going to make everyone or anyone perfectly happy. I don't think it's realistic. Each game has it's faults and some games have more faults than others. I like Skyrim a lot. The only reason why I haven't been playing it as much asI did previous Elder Scrolls games is because I discovered online gaming. And it's not that I think that online gaming, any of them...although I've only played one... are better than Skyrim.I really miss the social interaction you get with online gaming. The idea of Skyrim being multi player wigged me out before I played an online game but now I think it may have been a pretty cool idea. But really, that's the only reason I'm not as obsessed with Skyrim as I could be.

mgordon
OK, you want a game, by modern standards, in which to play now? I'm guessing by "modern standards", you don't want to play Leisure Suit Larry. This game isn't one of the latest, but It's an excellent game by my standards. It's also pretty good by today's standards, considering it was made over 10 years ago. It's called Battle Zone by Activision. It's abandonware now, so you can just download it. Not very big, as it's 13 years old now, but it still rocks. http://www.battlezone1.org/
AnarkiHunter
I tend to look on the brighter side, at-least Skyrim on PC is mod'able. Imagine if it wasn't so....
Arcadiast
Imagine if it wasn't so.... I would have given up on gaming all together if it was not for modding. "Shootthingsdeath Part 2399" or "BewareofDigitalWatchDogResistanceisFutileAllyourPersonalInformationBelongstoUsDRM" Games are not enough of a Reason to waste money and time on gaming. The Last game before Skyrim I actually bought and played is New Vegas. The one before is Fallout 3 and before is Oblivion...all thanks to modding. I have pretty much skipped the rest. CaptainChaos
Mgordon - "Leisure Suit Larry?" LOL. You are dating yourself my friend... haha. Good times. Jumpman anyone? Ahh Epyx, you ruled my Atari 800 days and nights... Crypt of the Undead, Dunjonquest and my all time favorite - I wish they would make a 21 century version - Crush Crumble & Chomp. Ahh... memories. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crush,_Crumble_and_Chomp!
