jesusismyairbag
holy s***!!! i have 70 hours, bored already (it happens, nothing wrong with the game, its me -short attention span) i guess you could say you pretty much know the ins and outs of 90%+ of skyrim, hah.edit: to the point at hand, i havent played skyrim since the last patch, f***ed up my fps, from 60fps to somewhere around 20. so ima just leave it for now. but before this, i was getting crashes everytime i entered a new cell-but that was before i used to 4gb patch, now apparently beth has released their own, so i dunno if it works anymore. Karasuman
Sadly, this seems to be a common problem with TES games in general. Oblivion and Morrowind had similar issues. Basically, the more you level and the more time that gets logged, the more information a save file has to remember and the bigger it gets, and thus the more likely it is to f*** something up by hitting random errors, etc. There were utilities for the other games like Wrye Bash that could be used to help clean up save files, but you still generally got more and more crashes the bigger your save file became. Unfortunately that theme seems to be alive and well in Skyrim as well. Edited December 27, 2011 by Karasuman
nitevision92
I've only had to wait till ~100 hours for the random CTDs/cell-change crashes/Jorrvaskr exit crashes to show up. I create plenty of new saves though. That's not counting random weird stuff like Riften's city wall going all transparent on me.
Kodiak412
Well I have gone back to a previous save and have found one that seems to be stable. Right now I am in the process of "cleaning up" everything that I can. Any area that had something dumped is being cleaned up and the goods sold to vendors that will delete it when they refresh. Every cabinet in every home is being emptied. Now I have money coming out the wazoo. My hope is that it will have some effect on the save game file size. We'll have to see. I hope it works, at least to some degree.

HadToRegister
what is the a bomb with wyre bash? Abomb cleans up all the non-essential garbage in a TES game from your savegame, I'm hoping that they get it working for skyrim soon,it saved my dirty save games for Oblivion. I've been using this Save Hot Key mod, it's a Save Hotkey, but it makes a new save each time to keep from overwriting the same save over and over again. Iv000
what is the a bomb with wyre bash?Abomb is a bug that appears after a long time playing the game. All the animations become really slow and the game is unplayable. It appears mostly on saves that are 200+ hours long. Though sometimes it doesn't.To fix the Oblivion bug, this tool was used:http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=5127 I am sure that this will not work on Skyrim, but giving it a try won't hurt.If you try it, make a backup of your saves. runicNomad
i am at 16mbs and have started to notice a few ctds but none of them are the same places. just when it loads.at this point making new saves is not going to do much correct?kind of sucks to find this out and for it to be the same issue as oblivion and no way to clean saves.hoping for wyrebash fix soon! trees415
I had the exact same problem, it would happen at the loading screen, particularly when I was in Solitude or Whiterun. My save game was about 15mb when it initially began to freeze, however I believe I may have found a fix for this issue, since I have had no problems at all since I did this about 9 days ago. What I did first was that I uninstalled my game, then did a fresh reinstallation, and decided to incorporate only the mods I really enjoyed or found useful. Then, I went into my savegame folder, and removed all but my 5-6 most recent gamesaves along with all the autosaves and quicksaves present. (Pretty sure this was what really fixed the problem). I think I had about 70-80 manual gamesaves in total, which added up to roughly 700mb. I placed my old saves in a separate folder on my data drive and compressed them in a rar archive to save disk space as well. Since then, my game has run well, with no crashes/freezes since. Perhaps when the game is loading, it is doing some sort of indexing of all your gamesaves, because when it started to freeze for me I had about 80 or so total gamesave files in my gamesave folder. I have a few other theories for why this happened, but this seems to be the only fix that has worked for me thus far, so I highly suggest anyone looking for a fix to try this. The re-installation is equally as important as well, so I'd suggest doing that as well. Hope this works for everyone else.
