OriginalkiltedFrog
TBT, I'm sitting at work with some time to kill, so thought I'd post something. So I'm looking for some feedback for all the weapon mods out there. I'm thinking of adding a few, though I am trying to meet the following criteria:-must be added to levelled lists, by script or manual edits (I'd make a merged patch if need be)-must not spawn so much that it becomes the only gun you see at a certain point (I'd prefer these masterpieces be random, but rare to extremely rare)-must be fair and not ridiculously over-powered (but if they are, I can always trim their stats down with fo4edit)-prefer them to be lore-ish (real-ish weapons or futuristic weapons that can match our world or Fallout's)-prefer as minimal bugs as the authors can muster (just don't want to break anything in my current saves, though I have numerous backups) Thoughts? I've been browsing through a lot of weapon mods, and have some ideas of what to grab, but I like seeing the results of discussions like these. Helps to find hidden gems that often are overlooked. Finally, thanks to the many, many talented modders, modellers, artists and dreamers that make these games as fantastic as they can be! Vormina
http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/16387/? The other mod I use is the weapons pack by Skibadaa, but the file is hidden now as he is updating and releasing all new versions as separate mods. After I installed those two mods I stopped looking at weapon mods as they satisfy my raider/gunner killing bloodlust. ;) I've used both of them for a long time and never had any issues whatsoever, which is surprising considering how many mods I use. crawe1x
For sheer quality, I think Millenia is hard to beat. However, he's only released a handgun and an SMG for FO4, which are two weapon classes that I hardly ever use. Hopefully, if he can figure out the animations, he'll release his magnificent SPAS-12, which I most definitely WILL use. WastelandMelody is very talented and has released two very lore-friendly weapon mods. I'm a big fan. asXas is also building up a very nice library of weapons - first a couple of alternative pipe/homemade type weapons, then a bolt-action rifle. Now he's working on an M1 Garand. All high quality and lore friendly. skibadaa is another of my favourites. His new weapon pack should hopefully be out around Xmas, containing a combat shotgun, assault rifle/LMG, heavy handgun, battle rifle, HMG, and Chinese LMG. The first three have already been released (as I'm sure you have already seen) and the battle rifle should drop any day now. But personally I'll wait for the complete pack. He's one of the most dedicated and responsive modders on the site, and has a great record of improving upon his work. Doombased has done some excellent work, but his vision doesn't fit aesthetically with my game. I like to keep things rough, weathered and post-apocalyptic. Other than his Rhino, his other weapons don't fit with the super-grungy look of my play-throughs. But his mods are top-notch, for sure. Shoeburglar, Corvalho1 and Shifu83 are also very talented and have released some excellent and unique mods. Right now, personally, I'm moving away from the more obvious weapons mods and instead trying to keep things more vanilla. The only 'unmodded' mod that I'm using is elgoes/henkspamadres' Pipe Shotgun, which fits seamlessly into the base game (though I still tweaked the damage slightly). I've also taken Sam Fisher's Sturmgewehr 44, which is basically a cleaned up version of the vanilla Radium Rifle, and turned it into a light entry-level assault rifle. I'm also using a modified version of a small mod that Ekayne made for me some time back, which creates a semi-auto version of the hunting rifle; it makes for a great M1/M14 style battle rifle. Finally, I've turned the vanilla assault rifle into a .308 LMG and the vanilla combat rifle into a 5.56 assault rifle. I've also played around with all the other vanilla weapons, so they each have a unique feel and place in the game. Took a couple of days, but everything feels nice and balanced now - and with the few simple additions already mentioned, I feel there's more than enough variety. ShinKungFuMan
TrickyVein is criminally overlooked by a lot of folks. His stuff fits in wonderfully with the Fallout world (complete with a nice H&H bit on the chainsaw!) and manage to bring new playstyles to the table. I greatly recommend the aforementioned chainsaw as well as his crossbow. Hallgarth's another one that seems to slip under a lot of radars, but he's a pretty great weaponsmith. I've messed around with his 45-70 revolver and it honestly has become one of my favorite aesthetic pistols, it just feels fun to fire and take something's head off from afar. crawe1x
@ Kung Fu Man: Yes, TrickyVein's crossbow mod is great. Thanks for reminding me - I haven't used it for a while and will now make a point of adding it into my next play-through. You're also right about Hallgarth. I've had my eye on his shotgun mod for a while now, and thanks to your comment, I decided to finally give it a try. Excellent mod that works seamlessly with the base game. th3overseer
It's brand new, but that .44 Automag is pretty fantastic.

genolune
I may have more to post, as I couldn't sleep so I ended up downloading almost every weapons mod on the FO4 nexus. I test them for overall balance of the weapon (ie how it handles, it's animation, how large the weapon is, weight, clip size, end game viability, etc). It may help to have a weapon for the most common ammo types or scenarios you find yourself in such as:Pistol (standard weapon)Shotgun (close combat)Submachine Gun (mid range)Assault Rifle (mid range)Sniper Rifle (long range engagements)Melee (out of ammo)
