Actual Consequences in Skyrim

Probably one of my biggest issues in Skyrim is the fact that there are literally no consequences for anything. Sure, if you commit a crime, the guards come for you. If you run around with a bounty, a very rare bounty hunter might come for you. But that's it. You go to jail, it's like it never happened. Your crime is cleared. You can kill everyone in Solitude yet if you go to jail, it's like it never happened. Why no penalties for going to jail? Why no executions? Anything? You can do major things in the game such as (Dark Brotherhood Spoiler)

murdering the Emperor of Tamriel

and again... no consequences. Why is it that you can commit the most atrocious crimes and you can either fight or just go to jail and clear your name easily? It's... too easy. Somehow, some way, I think the crime in Skyrim really needs to get a bit of an overhaul.

No offense but murdering the Emperor would have almost 0 short term consequences.in reality. All the military generals and political would continue on with w/e they were doing till the new Emperor is crowned.

Executions for EXTREMELY high bounties would be nice i guess.

Because it's Bethesda, and not CD Projekt RED or Bioware? Honestly, how fun would it be if you got executed?

Probably as much fun as it was at the beginning of the game, as long as you get to keep your head.

i think next game, bethesda will make the game much more dynamic. skyrim is so big, its already hard enough to achieve the polish it already has. in terms of gameplay and mechanics, bethesda will improve the tes 6 in both aspects, just like every new addition in the franchise.

To increase immersion they should make fines like in the real world: killing and stealing from the commoners: slap on the wrist; not implementing the central bankers' debt-base economy: country gets invaded and bombed.

Being executed isn't the fun part. Escaping the execution, killing everyone and increasing your bounty is!

I'm glad to see someone understands exactly what I was getting at. Clearly it's no fun if you're simply led to your execution and there's nothing you can do other than get decapitated, so... resist. Either break out of prison before your execution or make a scene in front of everyone and get away while you're facing the executioner. That would be pretty interesting, though likely the problem would be getting your equipment back, as you'd have to break into the dungeon to get to that infernal evidence chest.

Though now that I think about it with the Emperor, there were consequences in the main questline. Though I still find it funny when the Imperials shout "FOR THE EMPEROR!" and I'm kinda like "Yeah... about that...."

Note that I never said that it HAD to be that way, just that some form of consequences would be a little better than "Oh, a mass murderer. Go to jail and your slate will be clean."
