The Elder Scrolls VI

Now this topic has been done to death, but I just had an idea. Elder Scrolls VI is at least another 4-5 years away, but It's still worth discussing. So, I was thinking that the genre and feel needs a bit of a change. People will get bored of the European Medieval fantasy genre quite quickly. We need something exotic, like Morrowind was. So my proposal is...

...Elsweyr.

Now most of you are probably thinking, "But who would want to play in a land full of kitties?" Well I asked myself the same thing. Well look at it like this; the Nords in TES IV Oblivion and before weren't cool at all; they were ugly, dumb, bigoted and the women were manly. Now with TES V Skyrim, the Nords have been given a whole new feel to them. They're no longer the filthy, drunk bigots we used to know. They're now the honourable, good looking, passionate land-striding knights of the lands of old. Do you see what I mean?

So, this could be done with the Khajiits in TES VI Elsweyr. Instead of them being the sly, back-stabbing, cheating immigrants, they could also be turned into the proud, honourable, respectable warriors of the deserts and rainforests. Instead of talking with the accent of a cross breed between a Mexican and an Arab, they could have just an American/English accent. Besides, the only reason they speak in such an odd manner in the other TES games is because they lack fluency with Nordic and Nibenean, etc.

The main reason I'd like to see Elsweyr, like I said earlier, is because of the different feel. Imagine; instead of hardy, rugged, cold mountains, we could have beautiful, orange, sand-scaped flat-lands, with vast waterfalls and intricate rocky formations. Instead of heavily built up towns, we could have peaceful and spacious villages, with comfortable huts. Tents would replace shacks. From deserts ro rainforests, there would also be ancient Khajiiti dungeons; how fascinating!

So could anyone please discuss this with me, I'd love to share ideas around. :)

Deserts = Boring. Elsweyr is the one province I don't see making it into a game. Now, Valenwood or Summerset Isles, I can see. Lush jungles with a real "heart of Africa" kind of feel, treehouses and predators that climb trees. Also, with the Aldmeri Dominion back as a serious threat, it makes some sense to the timeframe.

Do you really see Bethesda making that? They can't even do ladders properly. :P

It sounds perfectly reasonable to me. Of course, I'm no the guy youi need to convince. I'm one of those weird guys who will play about anything, once. For me it will all depend on making a more detailed set of NPC's, making better use of environments , etc. Really, ESV is not a big enough advance over Neverwinter Nights II to get redicuously giddy about and NMII is old in game years.

Iwant to see some advance the art that doesn't depend on your users fixing all the mistakes you make as game designers. Maybes, when the toolset comes out, you can start layou of some terrain/areas and see where it goes. Have you scripted any characters yet?

Elder Scrolls VI

No Steam and CK with game. I will start there.

I am considering starting to spec out an open console for gamers to build, themselves. I need to gather some parts and build one myself to see where it takes me. Have to make OS and game engine decisions wisely. Thoughts?

i like skyrim, but since you cant do skyrim twice i would go with either Blackmarsh (i really wanna see how that looks like) or Elsweyr, perhaps think a little bigger and make both of the Beast Races provinces into one game, that would be cool. Edited by Wraithofdoom

Deserts = Boring.

How many people said Snow = Boring before Skyrim? :facepalm:

The three largest provinces of Tamriel have been covered (Morrowind, Cyrodiil, and Skyrim in order of descending size according to lore). The remaining provinces that have not been covered by a TES title are all too small to make a game world unto themselves IMO.
