JelliedScrib
What are the bear essentials for a mage?
Tchos
In the unmodded game? I used a lot of levitation (float safely out of reach of enemies and shoot spells at them), invisibility (to not be attacked), and soul trap (make great money selling filled soul gems). Of course heal over time (self) and damage over time (enemy) custom spells. I haven't tried any modded spells, but this one sounds interesting.http://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/3915
JelliedScrib
Yeah I was talking about unmoded spells. Thanks for response.

Dragon32
Some more mod-added spells, this one should really get a lot more attention than it does: Elemental Magicka II by NMZmaster
Sonja
I'm running a Jane of all Trades Breton right now, but she has a heavy focus in magery..I've been finding that a number of the bread and butter spells are pretty essential (especially before you can afford to have gear enchanted with CE effects)... For example, Water walking, Levitation and either Light or Night Eye (if you use anything that darkens the game) are critical. Also, if you don't have any ability with Sneak, Invisibility is highly useful. Chameleon is great too, but it's expensive to cast and tends to require higher skill levels (this is, of course, assuming you forego a certain cheesy item). Similarly, if you are a mage with a tendency toward kleptomania, Telekinesis is handy. For further travelling convenience, I suggest both Almsivi and Divine Intervention, along with Mark and Recall. Also, though not a spell, learning Alchemy is a no-brainer... with that, everything else becomes possible. Tchos
Oh yeah, I definitely second Sonja's suggestion of the Intervention spells and Mark/Recall.
aguadelimon
You should just sell daedric weapons and gets loads of training then buy all the spells in the game
Betrayed1
To be honest, I never played as a mage. I'm more into stealthy type, if you know what I mean, like 'what I do is my business' . But from my experience, there're some spells that are best for everyone to have: Mark/Recall, Almsivi/Divine Intervention. There are also some other spells I found useful for any type of character: LevitationChameleonWater Walking/BreathingRestore Fatigue/HealthResist Magicka (the most important spell in Morrowind, imho)Light/Night VisionSoul Trap (the second most important spell, for me at least)Etc
