I'm hoping for dx 11 for the 720, then it won't bottleneck the rest of the market wich is pc.

Thats the problem, then they wouldn't have a excuse not to use it.

Did they really need to call it the 720? I don't think that name is serious...

Naming the second xbox the 360 didn't make much sense to begin with. Maybe it will be more appealing than the 360;

Grandpa simpson will have to do a double take for the 720 before leaving :laugh: .

On a more serious note I also really hope that it will be dx11 or the quality of AAA release games will remain the same as it is now for another 5+ years. In all honesty consoles should be updated around every four years as six years (and by the looks of things it will be pushed up to eight years) is way too long for the hardware to remain the same unless it is really high end when released.

Looks like DX11 shininess is on its way.

Thank goodness :laugh: . That isn't a half bad gpu on a console either. I am impressed with microsoft this time. Hopefully it comes out later 2012 so we can get some new great looking games on the PC :happy: .

It can't come soon enough, I'm sick of listening to my GPU snore while I play games. :biggrin:

Love the title of the article "6 TIMES MORE POWERFUL" lol...well of course it is...when the heck did the 360 come out? 6 years ago? :P

It's only a 6670. It's not that fantastic but still pretty decent. But, I suppose they can't put a more powerful GPU in a console without threat of it overheating and such.

Don't forget the threat of overpricing their systems. People tend to buy consoles as a much less expensive gaming computer. It was $400 six years ago for the 'higher end' xbox. If consoles are housing a gtx 580 equivalent in them it would cost well over $1000 (assuming other parts are almost as good it would be over $1500). That would completely eliminate the purpose of it. It may be 6 times more powerful than the 360 but it is still 3-6 times less powerful than high end computers :tongue: . I definitely agree with you though. I could just see the release of thousands of soon to be piles of melted plastic if cards reaching 70*C with good cooling got stuffed into a tiny box :laugh: .

Although, with what seems to be a playerbase that's slowly changing their ideals towards a game, graphics might not intrigue as many people as they want it to. What could really spur the third-party attention towards them is if they have console programming similar to programming for a PC. Ports suffer from this because PCs need optimizations that consoles don't yet need, and perhaps with the next console these optimizations need to be made necessary. Some would call it a step down in progression, but I see it as a good way to cut problems with porting, especially with fledgling indie companies who want to expand their customer base by going multi-platform. Exclusivity's dying anyhow - People would prefer playing on their own device of choice instead of being restricted to only one.

Another thing they also need to do? Drop the need to pay to use some LIVE options that are necessary for games, like the online multiplayer. PSN and Wii Channels are free, and the need for online services is growing, so this is something that they are far behind with.

BTW, the Microsoft console after the 720 should be Called Xbox Dizzy if they keep this up. :biggrin:
