WhiskeySykes
News of the acquisition passed silently, nearly four months ago: "Legendary and the Frank Herbert estate have reached an agreement granting the production entity the film and television motion picture rights to the beloved novel DUNE, one of the most revered science fiction novels of all time. The agreement calls for the development and production of possible film and television projects for a global audience. The projects would be produced by Thomas Tull, Mary Parent and Cale Boyter, with Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt and Kim Herbert serving as executive producers." Dark0ne
I actually way preferred the sci-fi mini-series to the film. Yes, the acting, sets and costumes were bad, "interesting" or just plain budget, but the film just didn't go into enough depth around the universe as a whole. Indeed, a 90 - 120 minute film simply can't cover all the depth of lore necessary to tell Dune properly. I'd much prefer to see it covered in a Game of Thrones style breakdown. Ethreon
That would work nice indeed. You just have to look at Ender's Game and see how crammed the whole stuff is in the movie. There were also talks of HBO making a series out of the Foundation series around 2015... wonder what came of that. Fkemman11
Loved the books. Loved the movie. Didn't see the series. One of my favorite characters was Duncan-among others. Deep plots and rich backstories and lore make for fine material to be re-explored after a long hiatus from our collective conscience. The fact that Brian and Kim Herbert are exec producers tells me that whatever becomes of this ought to be pretty damn good!!!
