Do Russians have all the same access to internet and free press that you do in the West? It's hard to tell what is true and what isn't about them.

Gorbachev refers to the "Cold War" as a colluded effort between the two machines, both of which spent (and still spend) their time meddling in the affairs of other countries. Because they had nothing else to do, and still don't. Since 1945 and between the US and USSR, over $100 trillion has been and still is funneled to this war machine.

Demographics make or break countries, the U.S. will either collapse or Balkanize as multicultural Rome did. Countries are not really physical things, without the English- there is no England, without Germans, it's not Germany.

Well his speaking engagement fees beg to differ. But even if your claim was true, if you're saying most Russians wish a return of the USSR I know that's incorrect. It's a substantial minority but nowhere near a majority.

The only difference between the former USSR's geopolitical ambitions and Putin's vision for a 'restored' Russia are the flag's colors. If you doubt that assertion ask any Ukrainian, Lithuanian, Finn or Pole how safe they feel about their territorial integrity currently. Putin is the single best argument for the strengthening NATO that I can think of.

I lived in Russia for 15 years and a lot of russians want USSR but not the old one.They want to create a new one improved.
