gird3r
The 1.4 patch was good in an sense. We got perfomance increases. But the stability took an turn down the gutter. CTD occours more often. But there's one thing that pisses me off greatly. And that is this: After I have been playing for some time. Sometimes it takes 20 min, sometimes 2 hours. But eventually, when I fast travel or do anything that requires the loading screen, it will get stuck at the loading. Showing images and different "hints" etc forever. The only solution is to restart the game. Anyone here got lead on how we can lessen or even eliminate the CTD's and the Hangup at the loading screen?I never had any problems with this before 1.4. SKSE is updated. As is all the mods I use. Mods running: SkyUI, Enchanced Blood textures HD, Respawn_optional-89-1-1, A Quality World Map and True DragonBlood - Shout Cooldown Adjusments - ShoutCDv100. All of them are at the latest versions according to the respective mod authors, mod page.
nosisab
I tried to play some older characters from 1.3 patch and saved with different mods and I can't play without frequent crashes (when I manage to get a save to load at all) ... but everything working fine with all games started from later 1.3 version and the betas. So is clear to me the problem is probably this. I'm not sure if is retroactive patch incompatibility but most probably caused by the mods themselves. Among the most suspects are mods that alters game mechanics Maybe having to start a new game is the price to pay for the goods the new patch brought. Edit: Many believe is just disabling mods and all problems disappear as in a magic strike. Sadly is not that simple, the savegame may keep something that will haunt the game and normally hard to trace down the origin. That is particularly critical when the offending object is from previous version of a mod still being used and updated. Once the CK is out this kind of issue tend to become rarer, but is not the case for the actual situation where most mods are made using adapted tools from other games or relies strongly in plugins acting directly in the executable runtime. Let alone the game structure is not yet well known to most modders. What was good for Oblivion or Fallout xyz may not be for Skyrim on the long term. Edit2: I want to let a reminder, two actually, first that is far better for everyone if such ubiquitous thread about games crashing after patching were concentrated on one only thread. Second: Thiese patches for Skyrim are in a stage where they are deeply changing the game itself... no wonder they breaking things which worked on previous patches and the contrary, things from the past haunting the newly patched games. At some point the patches will be more stable among versions for they will address not structural problems. It was so in the past, veterans will remember the migration to new patches in morrowind which invalidated almost all mods at the time and it already had the CS. Was the same for Oblivion, mainly from the 1.1 patch to 1.2 ... Fallout 3 had "many" patches and NV was not much different. The bottom line is that in these troubled times problems will arise when trying to intermix versions, be by keeping mods developed for old versions (which can work sometimes or can create serious yet insidious problems). By means of old savegames refusing to work nicely or not working at all... Until the base is redone with games started already from a more solid base... "Houston, we have a problem", let's hope it ends well like in the quoted case. Edited February 4, 2012 by nosisab
gird3r
True. But I find it hard that the mods I listed as the culprits. Pretty much the only ones who does anything out of the ordinary are the SKSE and SkyUI. And those two are the only ones that I could thing off. But then again, as you said. Bethesda is doing some major changes in the patch. Just hope they can get the stability on track while keeping the perfomance gains.

MotoSxorpio
Be sure to VALIDATE files after each update. Load a save with NO mods, save and reload with mods. When modding or adding mods or changing mods to an existing save, corruption in the save is SURE to happen eventually. Keep a clean save ready to test new mods before saving your favorite character with a new mod installed. Use NMM to edit load order, and reset bsa when new updates are made or new mods are installed. (sets the time like Wrye bash used to do)
Doc6666
Also go in and delete very old save games, it improved after I deleted over 200 saved games.
gird3r
Well I got like 700 saved games. How do I delete all the saves I don't want without f***ing up the numbers on the saves? For example if I removes all saves between 50-600. Could I just go ahead and do that?
