If you ignore too many people on the forums, you can't view the whole list

The Ignored Users list doesn't have a pager or a Load More button, so you can only see the first 25 people you've ignored. You can't view the list past that, though the ignore functionality is properly applied to users past the 25th. It may be possible to stop ignoring a user past the 25th by tampering with the URL on a Remove button, if you pull their user ID from their profile URL; and I believe it's possible to at least partially amend ignore prefs for a user past the 25th by simply "ignoring them again" with the desired settings.

This isn't a major issue and it likely isn't a common one, but if you're the type who responds to public toxic behavior by thinking, "Yeah, I never want to talk to that guy ever," you might run into it.

I don't understand why you would want to ignore a bunch of people. I've been on this site for eleven years and in that time I've only banned one person. Also in that time I've only been banned by one person. A gentleman who joined the forum that day, banned me and posted a personal message to me telling me that I've been banned. I don't know why I was banned or really from whom. To quote Rodney King, "Can't we all just get along?"

Hey @Rabbit51, I can think of several reasons to block some people.

  • My favorite peeve is people who make assumptions, post those assumptions as if they were gold plated facts and then throw a tantrum when called out for their hubris.
  • Next would be the clairvoyants who offer "constructive criticism" on a mod they haven't downloaded.
  • Then there are the mod users who can't be bothered to read the description and then ask questions which are clearly answered in said description.

I could go on, but how would such avail me. I don't know how to block people anyway.

Edit: That is an interesting question though. How does one block a user from a mod?

How does one block a user from a mod?

As far as I'm aware, you have to wait for them to make a comment, and only then can you do so. At the top of their comment, you get an option to ban them from 'this file', 'all my files' (which sadly does not seem to work for mods you are just co-author of), and 'PMs' (which takes you to the forum 'ignoring' system rather than auto-blocking them from PM-ing you).

I have several comments on my four little mods, and I see no options like those described. Is there some magic box I must tick (or un-tick) to turn this capability on?

As far as I'm aware you must be a recognized mod author, that is have at least 1000 downloads of your files in sum for 1 game.

The forums' Ignore feature, however, as is the topic here, works for everyone.

yeah im with you Rabbit, not sure why anyone would need to block that many users... i havent even added one person to the ignore list since i got here. though it is clearly an issue when you cant see all of the people on it.

Oh. So producing mods and uploading mods doesn't make you a mod maker. People downloading your mod makes you a mod maker. That makes sense.

PoorlyAged, you misunderstood what Drake was talking about. When a mod author has reached the magic number of 1000 unique downloads for a given game's mods, then they become a "recognized mod author" on Nexus. This designation is automatic and bestows a few little perks to the mod author such as the aforementioned ability to ban people from commenting on or downloading your files.

No Jannifer, I understood The Drake quite well; it is you which seems to have missed my point. But your incomprehension is quite understandable. It is a sad fact that sarcasm doesn't get translated through the keyboard.

It is also sad that a "recognized mod author" can block rude and belligerent posts, while new "unrecognized mod authors" must "suffer the slings and arrows" of ignorant inflated egos. I wonder; how may good 'unrecognized mod authors" have been driven from the field because they didn't wish to endure the idiocy of some users?

Oh well, we are terribly off topic and and I seriously doubt that the voice of a single "unrecognized mod author" carries any weight.
