If Bethesda asked Nexus to remove a free mod would they?

With the new paid for mods issue there is a conflict between free mods and paid mods. If there is a free mod of a paid mod and that free mod is better than the paid one, bethesda could come in and say it's hurting sales so we're going to A) sue you or B) have Nexus remove your mods.

Does anyone got an opinion on this?

since it is well known that if a tree falls in a forest with nobody around to hear it

the world doesn't come to an end

worry about real threats not imagined scenarios

They shown a chinese stealth suit in Fallout4 as a premium mod.

There are free chinese stealth suit mods on the Nexus that are better than that mod they shown.

It's reasonable to assume this will cause conflict.;

It certainly is not reasonable. Do companies with competing products insist their competitors remove their products? Stop making mountains out of molerat hills.

Are mod creators separate entities than bethesda? No. You cannot sell your mod. So that was utterly a false equivalence.

Bethesda has rights to their product, and if they feel your mod is harming sells they can definitely take action to have that mod removed.

Pretend like this isn't a big deal now, but when they actually crack down on free mods that are better than premium mods reference this post because I was 100% correct.

No they cant first off all mods has to be original content. so free mod is original content too and they cant have it removed. unless the free mod was stolen and reuploaded on nexus, then they can have it removed due to stolen content. but other then that free mods are pretty safe.

btw this goes vise versa too if the mod from bethesda was stolen from free content then mod author can make Bethesda remove the mod as well due content stolen.

Oh look another made up nonsense.

Also, I see a lot of people are ignorant to the fact that the chinese stealth suit was part of the beth fallout sets since 2008 when they released 3.

How profound. I like this. Do you mind, Fonger if I take this to heart? You can feed an old rabbit new Trix.

The only time Nexus takes a mod down when asked to do so by an an outside party, Bethesda included, is when that mod is a copyright violation. For that to happen with a mod available on Nexus, the uploader would first have to obtain the original content off of whatever site the original creator uses to share and then upload that content in whole or in part here, someone would then have to download the mod, realize that it's a complete or partial rip and launch requests for removal.

That's the procedure. Period. That doesn't change whether or not it's a free mod that's been infringed or a paid one.

If someone sees a mod on a marketplace, is inspired to create a new mod that fills the same nitch and even looks damn close to the original but doesn't rip off or reuse any of the inspiring mod's content - that's not grounds for removal.

This procedure is unlikely to change in near future so relax.
