As I'm fairly new to this site, my opinion may not count for much but...

You modders shouldn't let flamers get to you.

 

You should be proud of the incredible work you do.

There will always be people who whine and complain just to hear themselves talk.

People who may end up enjoying your work lose the opportunity just because some people were, well, you know...

 

Since I am not a modder though, I guess it's not really fair for me to say that.

I have no clue what it is like to have my hard work unfairly criticized by other people.

 

Just try not to take their comments to heart.

There is no way to get rid of those kinds of people.

Aiokani, someway I envy you, I have a concept mod, a simple weapon scripted so to adapt and follow the player character development. It had above 450 downloads until now, and apart one user trolling it and another that treated well, no other returned even a bad comment. I'm obligated to think the mod as mediocre, not even a bad mod, just forgettable and this hurts a lot.

 

Not serious above, yet have some truth there I know what I felt when it was underrated without given reason, and myself was not even attacked. So I know this hurts and hurts bad. Now the will to mod the whole project is gone and maybe will be so forever.

 

But you at least don't gave away, and this is good to us and we can be only grateful for this.

 

To you and all modders that had his/her work unfairly treated, and worse yet when the own person was attacked, we that know what mean respect and gratitude can only try and demonstrate it, and loath the ones that never knew what is being gent.

I am brand new here but not to gaming as I have been around since the 90's mainly in flight & sub sims and have seen this before. The conclusion I have come to is we the silent majority need to speak up in support of those who give their time freely to better enhance our game of choice, if we see attacks on one of the modders then speak out in support of the modder and report the idiot who is attacking.

 

The modders are the life blood of a game as it is them that extend the life of a game by allowing us the gamer to experiance new stuff keep the thrill going and we need to give support back as a token of thanks, but at the same time we also should be allowed to point out any faults in the mod in a effort to further enhance the mod, the devil is in the details - we need to be polite and clear on the suggestions as the written word on a forum can be misinterprated easily especialy if it is read by a non native english speaker who does not see your face to know you meant no offense in what you wrote.

 

It ebbs and flows, great modders come and go and if the community is strong and well moderated then others will come and fill the spot left but if the community keeps turning on it self then it will die and everyone will move on to something else, I did as I used to love a certian flight sim but due to the stand over tatics of a group of central modders who thought they had the right to bully all who questioned them I left.

 

These are the thoughts of someone who has never played Oblivin or Morrowind and is sad to read this upon coming to a new community. It is very confusing as a brand new guy as the amount of mods and different things has lead to more than a few frustrated choice words at the computer but I would never come back and vent at the modders as I know that the fault is more than likely in the way I am trying to install it and I just need to read up a bit and work the problem, and to tell the truth I actually get enjoyment out of solving the problem and getting the mod to work, wierd but true.

I will try to pay more attention to this & report them more often. I'm sorry for those that have had to put up with the few malcontents we have running around here.

So we loose another modder due to the ungrateful, self centered, the only opinion that matters is mine mentality of youth.

 

I don't like this or it isn't to my tastes so I am going to rant and rave, flame the mod, destroy the ratings piss the author off and make myself self important, everyone will respect me because my mommy has told me that I am special and the sun shines out my asshole!

 

My apologies, that it has come to you pulling your work for your own peace of mind, no one should be harassed by irrelevant ratings and corrosive comments.

 

Did you ever report these posts or ratings, I don't remember seeing any from you....the limited staff here is quite protective of the mod creators and authors, and tend to be take no prisoners if someone gets out of line with comments and ratings.

 

I know of the problems Alienslof was having, and did what I could when anyone reported problems, but you can only take it for so long as slof did.

Look I'll be honest with you, I don't think I have tried your mods but I really hate these latest situations .

Have you not read what people have said to you? You have our support.

I'm going to be looking out for it more & Buddah has cracked the whip down on some riffraff, things can get better just hang in there OK.

My two cents, for what it's worth:

There are flamers everywhere, and their little minds get their jollies berating and making others miserable. I pay them no mind since their silly arsed opinions doesn't matter to me. I ignore them since they are not a part of my life. I've noticed those that scream the loudest about how bad things are, are those that never contribute in any way to make things better. Since they don't have to face you in person, they scream loud and know there's not much in retribution. Little do they know what losers they are in the long run.

Because of people like you; people that shared their talents, I became a premium member. This place was a treasure trove of add ons for a great game, making it even more so. I figured it was well worth it to gain so much enjoyment.

If you should ever change your mind and return, there are some really nice people here that would warmly welcome you. And for the works you had contributed, we thank you.

Enlightening post buddah. This gives an excellent idea on some poster's maturity and intelligence.

 

To Aoikani I can say what I already said to AlienSlof: it is your right to do what you want with your mod and if you think that the community does not deserve them anymore, so be it.

 

Just keep in mind that for every "customer" complaining there are 99 satisfied who remain silent.

 

Anyway, good luck with your new non-Oblivion-modding projects !

well, it's been a long exhausting day. :/ I started out going out to eat breakfast this morning and contemplated over some ideas of quests and couldn't wait to get home to start. but then, all that.. well don't want to beat a dead horse.

 

i offered my material to the The Underdark devteam and they've agreed to examine it hoping I hadn't deleted it. an invitation to contribute to their work has been extended and I've offered to help. so, for now that is what i'll work on.

 

and thanks guys, I will continue thanks to one of my friends who doesn't play Oblivion but surfed the website and saw my mods convinced me to not give up because of a few .. well I'm going to sleep. beating the horse again.
