EleonDragon
Long time skyrim player here, and just got back into it recently and decided to start modding for the first time! I currently have about 20 mods, but I have a question for you long-time modders out there. A lot of the sites I've been looking at for recommended mods list multiple different texture mods that I would think would conflict with each other. Is it really that common to use multiple texture mods? Does it work? So far the only texture and graphics mods I'm using are 2k Textures, SMIM, Realistic Blood (think that's what it's called), Realistic Water Two, Wet and Cold, and one of the weather mods (can't recall which off the top of my head) Would it be wise to add other texture mods to this list? If so, can any of you recommend some to me? For the record, I am already using LOOT to configure my mod load order. belenbelen
Yes you can use them in conjunction with other packs but try to stick to the style of your biggest texture pack so some objects won't look like out of this world. For your second question; I Myself, always use more than 1. Not the healthiest but i prefer that way. You can use 1 texture pack for landscape, 1 for armor and weapons, 1 for everything else alongside some little insignificant items' textures. But the easiest way is to stick to a 1 big texture overhaul like yours, 2K. PS: I suggest you to look https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/45807/?. IMO it's one of the best ways to replace textures, is up to date, does covers almost everything. Besides if you are playing on SSE, Skyrim2k might be inferior to other texture packs. For the record; you don't need LOOT for texture packs.
EleonDragon
I'll check that mod out! Thank you. And I picked my mods based off of the popular list on nexus. 2k was #
Pippboss
Check out S.E.P.T.I.M on SSE mod page. Its very comprehensive guide and while it might have some out of date mods now listed it still works really well. Its relatively easy to setup and comes with some great mod options for all systems. I used it my self as a basis for my modded setup until I re formatted my PC last month. When I say it works great on most systems I have a potato PC with a leak video card an a carrot CPU so I know it works good. Good luck and happy modding. Also if you take a look at how he builds up the load order you'll see how things install. Best advice I can give is take it slowly. TEST TEST TEST add copious use of LOOT and make sure you clean them masters. Edited October 3, 2017 by Pippboss
checkplese
use 2017 textures with noble skyrim and everything else you use. It makes the game look fantastic and there is no conflicts between them! its what i personally use for my playthroughs. Have fun :)
Novem99
Skyrim HD 2k is a little bit outdated. If you're looking for one big texture pack that works "out of the box" I would recommend the aforementioned Noble Skyrim. And yes it is pretty common to use multiple texture mods. CosmicArrow
Texture mods don't really conflict as much as they replace each other based on how you activate them. That's the cool part about textures. You can load say Skyrim 2017 textures but if you don't like the mountains in that one you can just load a different mountain texture you prefer and get the best of both worlds. Shabdez
As a rule of thumb: As long as you have actually spent more time on playing than building your personal mix of favorite textures, you're not really done with your texture setup.
