nosisab
I saw a post where was asked if certain mod was a cheat one. The first thought was to respond it with a clear and loud YES...So I refrained myself, first because I don't like doing value judgments, the better we can say of this kind of judgment is than one is giving his own opinion about something, and this better to one is not necessarily the better to others. Some things could and would fall in that category beyond questioning, we can say others aren't and argue convincingly about this too. And so, like is not uncommon when we give so much thoughts to unimportant things, was not an answer I got myself, instead was another question: What is cheating? Have I a clear, unquestionable or even well based opinion I can claim beyond doubts? When one intentionally fools another with lies and half truths I think I have solid grounds. Better saying, when the concept is applied between two or more interested the answer is aways clear. No arguments will stand when got to the lower, unmaskble, level... but most of the long ago formed opinions about the issue are now at severe rethinking. I'm unsure even if I don't cheated myself not posting this at the 'Debates' forum.
Chesto
Nah... we're good here, Nos. This way we get to range about , as we always do in response to your latest exposition. Cheating? I don't tend to cheat. A) because I dont want to face the music when I get caught, which seems to be an inevitable for me, and 2) because of an overdeveloped sense of fair play. Never been able to shake off the school boy code. Having said that, I probably cheat myself all the time, and am even aware of when I'm doing it , some of the time. Sharkull
IMO, cheating (in a game) is something that affects the gameplay balance (in favor of a player), in a way not intended by the original designers. That being said, everyone should be free to experience single-player games any way they want. To "cheat" or not is an irrelevant question because every player's preferences may not be met by the original designers, and the idea of a game is to enjoy yourself. Multi-player is another story of course (where I believe in a level playing field).
bben46
In a single player game, The only one you can cheat is yourself. A cheat mod would be one that cheats you out of something.
Gamerbird
Once I have played a game and completed it, the only time I would cheat is playing it again after. Although I may cheat if I get really stuck, for example trying to do something but trying like 50 times but haven't been able to do it then I will cheat. nosisab
Actually was with a game in mind I began questioning the meanings of cheat. I have even included 'cheating yourself' in the premises. But soon the thoughts gone wild and wide, and so I knew I couldn't post at the mods section. I was not even sure between the Lounge and Debates forums. For so many are the ways of cheating. Cheat is now even a common place that ranges the advertisement area to business issues... a very broad range. One shields himself behind the "I don't lied" where indeed he means: Just omitted a few things... For cheating is at the root of that what than leaded to the divorce among Justice and Right; perverting the meanings of these words, their significants and sense. Justice so often has been turned a harlot to power. Right not aways means the correct anymore.
Sharkull
Ah, I see. It sounds like you're talking about ethics and integrity... topics not easily dissected for sure.
